It looks like it's a remake of CV3 ( my fav CV game and one of my fav games ever) with the help of dead cells development team,... pretty much EXACTLY what I've been asking for

I am going to play Silent Hill 2 after 100% of the FB comments on the recent movie said that the VG was better. I just have to figure out how to get the game.

haven't played it yet but seems like everybody's buying the resident evil game that launched last week as pre orders were running out prior to release according to some podcasts that i watch

DK, NHL 26, Kingdom Come 2, Dragon Quest 2 Switch,.... those four in a rotation since December,... I think I'll stay here for a while, maybe add MLB The Show into the mix. These all have enough to see me through most of the summer, then the buildup to Bloodstained and Castlevania....

Happy Crimson Desert release week to all who celebrate. I've seen nothing but positive previews so far. Pre-load on Tuesday, the fun kicks off on Thursday. The Digital Foundry tech review sealed the deal for me (no spoilers in the video below, except maybe showing an encounter in the first third of the game). There was concern that the earlier footage of the game was only from the PC version, which was a trick CP77 devs used to hide the major flaws in the game. I'm playing it on the Pro, and the new upscaling tech will be added specifically for this game, similar to Resident Evil: Requiem.

I want to be excited for this but there's an underlying aspect of this game in motion that looks janky to me. I can't describe it but it looks like one of those "photorealistic Zelda" demos that hobbyist make in unreal engine and put up for clicks. If it delivers on the promise and plays well it seems like it's going to be incredible, but I can't turn off the warning bells.

im a little concerned the story/questing is going to be a bit too much Dragon's Dogma like
I hear you on that. If Pearl Abyss smoothed out some of the DD2 jank and quirks that annoyed people, I think lots of people will be happy if CD turns out to be the DD2 that people were expecting. My prediction for Metacritic tomorrow is something in the 85-89 range.

Edit: Oof, 78 on Metacritic, 80 on Opencritic. Concerns about bugs, story, difficulty curve, and respecting the players time. Bugs can be fixed, but a couple reviews said some boss fights make Souls games look easy. 😬

Already done with Shadows?

Actually just couldn’t get fully invested. I think I got AC burnout. First one I hadn’t gone to 100% completion for the Platinum trophy in a while.

Part of the problem is that the game before, Mirage, was actually a nice, tight, semi-linear game with limited gear, customization, etc. Had a great time with that one.

It’s been a while since I’ve played anything on console, really. Crimson Desert intrigues me for the apparent wide variety of ways to play within the world.

This is your quarterly reminder from your local Valve representative (Kidding) that a season sale is active on Steam right now through the 26th. Clear out those wishlists, or at least put a dent in them.

I've got a gift card and some cash to blow, what should I get? This is a fraction of some wishlist items, just ones that are on sale and are in the mix:

Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (Never played a Trails game)
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Octopath Traveler 2
Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights
Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist
Wandering Sword
Star Ocean The Second Story (Never played a Star Ocean game)
Star Ocean The Last Hope
Star Ocean The Divine Force
Drova: Forsaken Kin
V Rising
Elden Ring (I know, I've been waiting for a deep discount, like closer to $25-30)
Grounded
Vigil: The Longest Night
Space Engineers (Had this on my list for 11 years and I've yet to pull the trigger)
Project Wingman
Stellaris
Tyranny (Love Obsidian stuff and it's been on the list for a decade, but have seen mixed reviews)
Old World
Everspace 2
Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game
Dreadful River
Airborne Empire
Future Fragments
Sengoku Dynasty
Fate/Samurai Remnant
Star Wars: Outlaws (Deep discount, which I've been waiting for)
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (Strongly considering at $30 now)
Triangle Strategy
Elin
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ($40, but thinking about waiting a bit longer for bigger discount)
Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven

@Ian77 you got a Day One review of Crimson Desert for us??

I honestly cancelled my pre-order after seeing the reviews. Literally the first time in my life that I've done that. I still intend to play it, but after some major patching.

Whenever a game comes out that I like, I check a variety of reviews, positive and negative. From what I saw from even otherwise generally positive ones was there's a LOT of bugs, including gamebreakers, terrible writing plus poor translation and localization from Korea to North America*, repetitive menial quests in the first 6-8 hours, the menus are convoluted, and the controls are very weird and un-remappable. The devs have said they're going to put out a patch shortly that allows you to remap the buttons and sticks. I'll absolutely take a swing at this game, but it'll have to wait.

* I take that as a bit of a given with games out of South Korea. Lies of P and Stellar Blade looked and played really well, but I wasn't there for the stories or voice acting. Gaming accounts on Twitter/X that I follow said that what little direction the game gives the player is unhelpful for even menial tasks.
