I played a lot of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory as an undergrad at ND. It allowed you to change the colors of your handle, so I made mine e[ND]er, with the 'ND' in gold and the rest in navy blue. Best handle I ever had.

CoD is seriously fun, best one in a long while (sine MW2??). I like that they have different modes with different play styles/damage etc. I find Hardcore free for all suits me well. My Proxy Mines and my custom FAL, ‘Mr. Grimly’ just dominate. On normal I do well with my custom M4, ‘Corpse Maker’ but I’m still looking for a good weapon in Warzone. Gonna try to build up a Ram, see what happens.

Why, because it's white? The button layout is completely identical to the PS4 in every way. The shape is almost identical too, although it looks like the inner section on the hand grips is slightly less rounded. That might just be an optical illusion the more I look at it though due to the paint scheme. I feel like you haven't looked at a Playstation controller in awhile, too much playing with your Wii Wii.

I like the white and black combo with blue accent lights. It’s nice to see Sony change it up.

Chalk me up with you. I saw everybody saying this on Twitter and was confused. It's white... and other than that looks like a PS4 controller and nothing like an Xbox controller. It doesn't have offset analog sticks, the d-pad is above the left analog stick, it doesn't have colored buttons like the Xbox, it has a light bar, it has a touch pad on the front. The only resemblance I see with the Xbox controller is that it's a controller.

All that said, I hate the look of this thing. It looks like the mock-up that pops up on rumor sites that ends up not being true. I think that's almost entirely because of the color. This looks like 2001's idea of the future:

I don't know why Sony is being shy about its iconic button colorings.

The 'body' of the controller does seem a little taller, and I could see how it comes off as an Xbox controller in shape if not button layout.

Probably the result of adding haptic sensors and adaptive triggers inside.

Oh man, my brother had that game but we never finished it. I remember it being fun. I do recall the random battles being frequent and annoying, a bit like Beyond the Beyond.

Fun fact, I heard somewhere that old school RPGs originally went with random, invisible encounters because an open world large map didn't have the memory to deal with a ton of monsters loaded up. Makes sense. If you think about it, games like Zelda utilized different screens or sectors to get around this limitation, or in the case of Zelda II's open map they just spawned a few monsters around the hero on a set timer. I can't think of any early RPGs that allowed visible monsters on an open world screen, not until the tech improved anyway.

Agree. I figure that's a part of the mock up look though, no way does it actually do that. That would be extremely uncomfortable to press the buttons into the body of the controller.

It’s funny, I finished first in Plunder again last night but I continue to get rocked in gun battles in that mode. I think I’ve given up trying to build up a better gun and will just roll with my FAL or M4... I have better results with that anyway. I think part of the problem is my daughter and I play but can’t play split in that mode, my BiL and nephew play but same problem so as of now it’s at most two of us communicating and we seem to run into very coordinated teams of friends at times. My nephew is working on getting on via his xbox and my sister is finally getting on this weekend so that may help.

On that note I encountered a team a couple days ago,... rolling in a tact vehicle and simply hunting. They’d roll up, jump out in three different directions, kill everyone jump back in and keep going. They got me twice in the same game and I saw them from afar do it to multiple other users. Gonna try that once my team gets set up proper. Thus far my best plunder strategy has been: jump to a far corner of the map, avoid contact and plunder as much as possible. Air drop cash out every 200k or so. Usually top ten doing that and have won three matches outright.

This is an atypical post for me, but I'm going to plug a youtuber named Joseph Anderson who has put a TON of work into his most recent project, a complete breakdown of the Witcher series. He has played Witcher 1, 2, and 3, plus the spin off games, and has read all of the books. As someone who has enjoyed his analysis for a long time, he's been working on his Witcher videos for literal years. For people who enjoy his work, they've become legendary as he's been very open about how much work he has put into this series.

He just released his first video on the Witcher 1, which clocks in at 4 hours long. I've watched through it in 30 minute segments and think it's a great watch. If you like the Witcher, but haven't played anything but Witcher 3, I think you'll enjoy this as it basically tells the story of the first game.

Tl;dr: There's a good breakdown of the Witcher video games and books that's going to be longer than the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and its going to be put on Youtube for free. I'm spreading it because the man deserves some clicks.

I agree, though I have a small suspicion that they could be pressure based “buttons” that don’t actually move.

Grabbing a Switch "in the wild" and direct from a retailer are two different things.
