Destiny:
Went 9-0 Trials of Osiris with my Hunter, 9-1 with my Titan.
1 loss was a crushing defeat.
Prison of Elders is legit too.
Stoked for Iron Banner this week.
Did some research on Tom's hardware and other sites. This is what I came up with as far as what I want in my gaming PC build:
CPU Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard ASRock Z97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB FTW ACX 2.0+ Video Card
Case Corsair SPEC-01 RED ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive LG WH16NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer
OS Microsoft Windows 8.1 OEM (64-bit)
As of right now, the cost would be around $950. If someone has suggestions on alternate items, please share. I'd like to go a little bit less than $950.
Very solid economy build. It may cost you a little bit more, but it would totally be worth it to save for a bit and change/add 3 components:
1) Go with a larger SSD. You'll be swapping out large games from the SSD to the 1TB at that size. It goes really, really fast. I built my latest setup with a 120GB SSD 2 years ago and I swapped it out for a larger one last month because of this.
2) Closed loop water cooler for the CPU (Corsair H100i, NZXT Kraken X61). That way you can get a little more headroom out of your i5 if you intend to overclock. That TX3 Cooler is really, really cheap. Your CPU cooler is NOT an area I'd go to the bargain bin. Look at this. If you're intent on keeping costs down at least buy another cheapo fan and run a Hyper 212 EVO in push/pull (see graph at bottom of linked article).
3) 16 GB or RAM instead of 8 GB. RAM is cheap though, so this would be my last priority; especially since you can add in another pair of RAM modules in your ASRock Z97 at a later date.
You're clearly trying to do the best you can on a budget, which it totally fine, but when asking for build suggestions it's always best to say what you're going to use the system for. Can't tell you how often I see people spend money on an i7 they're never going to utilize the hyper-threading of because they don't run multi-threaded applications. Conversely, I also see people that do video editing and skimped out on RAM.
If you give us an idea of what your usage will be like we can probably help a little more accurately (and maybe save you some money; I know how to find some crazy ass deals).
EDIT: Also if gaming, what displays will you be using and at what resolution. That 960 will destroy any game on the horizon at ultra/maximum settings at 1080p.

I disagree with the death of consoles, at least for the most part. While I am part of the PC Master Race, I understand there are advantages to console play especially when it comes to co-op and head to head settings. Online competition is fun and all, but there's nothing quite like taking down a friend in your own living room, or teaming up with him to play a co-op. While I've done it before with Fallout and Skyrim releases, I don't enjoy lugging my gaming rig around to a friend's house to play a game, it's just not very mobile. Yes, I do have gaming laptop(s), but I find that even the good ones can never replace my desktop and they're a much bigger pita to troubleshoot/fix. Consoles allow you to easily take your gaming places and the 2nd hand market is great (At least for now, although it seems like streaming is the model everything is going to move towards...Sony and Microsoft tried to do it with the current gen and then backed out).
I just finished through the disc, now I have to buy the expansions. The game is hella fun, but why is the layout on each planet the same even if you are in a different location? Seems kind of odd to me. There's a lot of good, but plenty of room for improvement IMO.
Yeah you mean like in how you navigate from patrol?
I guess it's a little redundant.
But I dig the game thoroughly.
You probably missed glimmer farming in the early days.
That was terrible.
But you had to do it for money.
EDIT: If ever there was an appropriate time for the "It's Happening GIF, this is it."

I guess I just never felt those games that much.... I'm very 'eh' on the trailer...
