My dad has a ton of vinyl. I mean a ton. Like 3 racks worth are just collecting dust.

The Temptations or John Cougar are the two I recall him ever playing

My wife has an uncle with like hundreds,… all different sizes etc,… it’s not the cheapest or most logical way of doing it in this day and age but it’s a fun hobby of mine, right along with electric football. Def not all, but SOME do sound better,… Led Zepplin comes to mind as a group that def stands out as sounding better on vinyl

They have a pretty big discography. Dope.

Diving into the Type O discography for the billionth time while reading the Peter Steele book. I miss new Type O Negative music.

I remember when Nebraska came out when I was in college, thought it was one of the greatest albums I'd ever heard. I just looked up Atlantic City for old time's sake, and all the internet chatter was on the The Band's cover from 1993. Was that a big hit or something? I don't remember ever hearing that version. To be honest, I don't get the country twang version of what was a gritty urban song of frustration and despair.

New machine head, new ghost, and new Viagra boy albums dropped today, and I'm stuck in meetings for the first 6 hours of the day. I just want to listen to new music 🤬

As someone who very much loves both The Band and Bruce Springsteen, I don't really get it either.
Atlantic City is a top five Springsteen song for me. Beautiful, haunting, and, yes, gritty urban frustration. A song he was made to pull off at that point in his career.
The Band's version is all light and jangly, very different vibes. Not at all raw or earthy like most of their best work (note it came out well after their prime, after Robertson had left and Richard Manuel had died). Even Levon's vocals are kind of sing-songy.
It's fine but it kind of just bounces off the surface, whereas the original climbs inside you and stays there.

I think it’s probably a regional thing. Everyone I know prefers The Band’s version. Springsteen is a legend but doesn’t have near the fanbase down South as he does the rest of the US. Similarly, Lynyrd Skynyrd probably has the least amount of fans in the north & northeast. Regardless it’s a great song & both artists are HOFers so to each their own.
