Cargo shorts are good for one thing: sealing the driveway. I clean my squeegee with them when I'm done.

So how did some of you make it through parenthood without cargo shorts? Did you just upgrade to the fanny pack?!

Swear on a stack of bibles, I have kept my kid's diapers in my cargo shorts, including bottles, toys, and now their cell phones when they're playing sports.

I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I think Under Armour has done a good job with the football uniforms and team apparel. The problem with their apparel, however, is what’s supplied to the team is tremendously better than what you can get at Hammes and the overall fit of their apparel is all over the place. I essentially wear size large jackets and shirts and have a 34 inch waist, which equates to a 2XL “fitted” for UA.

I just don’t get why it matters so much who makes NDs apparel. All these companies make shit products for the most part. And before you guys say the kids care if it’s Nike or under armor, if they care that much they probably aren’t coming to ND anyways

It does matter but it’s not insurmountable. But it’s one more “self imposed restriction “ that ND puts on itself.

Nike today is what Adidas was in the early 80s, except MUCH bigger and more popular.

It's not a self-imposed restriction if we are UA's only game in town. It's an advantage.

UA did a very public NIL deal with Hartman last year after he transferred to ND. MF revealed he talked to JS about ND's next apparel deal and said to make sure "They take care of our players" and then confirmed in the next sentence that NIL is what he was talking about.

Being UA's only big client is better than being one of many Nike clients because UA should have more NIL opportunities for our players than Nike would and I don't think it's hard to communicate that when pitching new recruits.

In what way am I wrong?

Are you saying that MF didn't tell JS to "take care of our players" with the next apparel deal?

Are you saying MF didn't confirm that SH's NIL deal wasn't one of the things he was talking about when he said "take care of our players" which further confirms he was talking about NIL in general when it came to the next apparel deal?

Also, MF, NI, MS all lobbied for Nike/ Jordan. They were not thrilled when JS stuck with UA. Source? Me.

Well, I think we've found our problem then.

I think you might be right that MF may have preferred Nike but even if that's true it doesn't mean he was less than thrilled after the new UA deal was finalized.

Everything else I said is backed up by this video I posted in this thread last Aug.

I then pointed out the takeaway from the video was the following:

  • MF revealed that he told JS "Part of my discussions with Jack when we started talking about Under Armour... I said, hey, take care of our players," which confirms 2 things: MF had direct discussions with JS about the next apparel deal and that his number 1 concern was "take care of our players" which directly implies NIL.
  • The next words out of MF's mouth were, "One of those things is they already did an NIL deal with Sam." The words "those things" in that sentence refer to the things MF was telling JS he wanted UA to do for ND players and he confirmed UA was already doing it. They were already doing an NIL deal with at least one ND player. And since MF said "take care of our player(s)", plural (I don't mean to be pedantic), doing 1 NIL deal with 1 ND player was not going to be enough. He was talking about NIL deals for multiple players.
  • The fact that this video was even made and posted to ND's official Twitter account makes it obvious that MF wanted to very publically announce the fact that one primary reason the UA deal was made was to "take care of the players", i.e., NIL.
So regardless if MF originally preferred Nike, he still had a say in what the next apparel deal should entail, he seems to be very happy with it, and he made it clear that he's willing to talk openly about it to the players and potential recruits.
