What is the "uniform surprise"?

Oh gross. I hate it. A lot. We look like Oregon crossed with some JV high school team.

Luckily they aren't for guys like us. The team exploded when they saw them, and I'm guessing recruits will love them as well. And that's all that matters.

I'll wait until I see them on TV instead of a small picture on my computer before I pass judgment. As has been said, they always look better on TV.

(I actually already like them, a lot anyway. Looks like I'm in the minority lol)

I love love love the jersey's.. The helmet I'll pass on

Yeah I don't like the facemask. One half is green and the other is blue. That's dumb.

I don't mind the rest. It's not a homerun, but it's not terrible. I didn't like last year's SS unis until I saw them on TV during the game, where they quickly became my favorite SS unis.
They don't belong in Fenway Park. Notre Dame is about history, tradition, echoes. Fenway Park is the perfect place to play on those values. These jerseys belong in a dumpster fire in Eugene, not in the cathedral of American sport. I wouldn't be nearly as upset if the gamer were in Dallas or even Gillette, but the optics of this are all wrong. The Bruins and Flyers did it right in 2010.

Honestly, I hate these uniforms so much that I'm no longer upset that I couldn't get a ticket to the game. I do like the "we are the green monster" line though.

They're not bad. I saw last years in person and they were killers. I think these will get a positive reaction overall.

I'm disgusted that the ESPN jargon-of-the-month has worn off on you.

Additionally, tradition and throwback wouldn't be bad, but I like the "Green Monster" theme of the jerseys. It's not a bad theme to roll with if you're in Fenway.

Haha you guys are terrible. How do you not like these? At least ND does things like this. The players are ecstatic about it and that is all that matters.

I love them!

Get with the times, you old men.

I'd like them to do black jerseys with gold numbers and green outlining next year.

Very decent, but they would've been HOT FIRE with a darker shade of green.

does not make sense for UA to do both uniforms and then make one a throwback set and then the other an Oregon ripoff attempt.

I do like the "we are the green monster" line though.

I was hoping for something like the 2010 SS or the 2007 USC game throwback. I thought a slight tweak on either would look sweet. I'm sure these will look good on TV though, and any alternate uni plays well with the recruits and players. I don't think it's the right venue for these unis, but I'm sure we take Fenway more seriously than people outside New England so whatever.

Of course they're for guys like us. Recruiting is one angle, but so is merchandise sales. Notre Dame is losing sight of the fact that their "base" is a bunch of 25 to 65 upper-middle-class CPAs and attorneys.

Definitely not the best shamrock series jerseys by any means, but they are definitely better than a couple of the monstrosities we have seen.

Even Oregon had the sense to go with matte paint on the helmets and no obnoxious knee stripe.

Dude, you are WAY over-reacting. I mean, I don't even know where to begin with your first post. I'll just say you're letting your NE bias get in the way of rational thought.

As for ND and their fan base...you know what gets fans happy? WINS. You know what gets wins? Recruits. The players love them, the recruits will love them (see: Oregon), and guess what, I'll bet you any amount of $$ you want that the merchandise sales will be the same as last year, ESP if this team is a winning team.

And BTW, I went to another site, one FAR more conservative than this one, and so far the overwhelming response is that they absolutely love them. So maybe, just maaaaaaybe, they are hitting the right segment of the fan base as well.

In other words... since the Under Armour switch, Notre Dame merchandising (in general, not just Shamrock Series) has been geared to recruits much more than alumni. Those groups of people like different things, but they're favoring the former much more than the latter.

As long as the players love them...that's all I really care about.

That said...if they could ditch the mustard yellow pants for the gold ones from back in the 90s I would be so happy.

I'd bet that "base" makes up <1% of ND fans.
