Today I picked up a 4 pack of Founders Imperial Stout and a single of the Stone Enjoy By 2.14.17 Chocolate and Coffee IPA. I will have the Enjoy By later tonight and I will post my thoughts.

Stone Enjoy By 2.14.17 Chocolate and Coffee IPA.

I am not sure what to think of this beer. It is impressive that they made a Chocolate and Coffee IPA that isn't dominated by those two adjuncts and is relatively balanced between citrus, stone fruits, cocoa and light roasted coffee. On the other hand, nothing really stands out and leaves the taste slightly lacking.

I think that it is worth trying but it isn't as good as most Enjoy By's. Having said that if my local Safeway brings in the bombers for $5, I will buy another one and give it another shot, though I might try it in a tulip glass next time.

Drinking a collaboration between Stone and Heavy Seas. I'm not sure if it has a name... I tried a sample at the local ale house and then got my growler filled. It's a brown ale, and it's very malt forward while also having some strong hoppy notes that come through on the finish. The initial taste is thick and sweet... usually that means I'd get sick of the beer about halfway through, but instead (maybe because of the hops?) it's quite enjoyable.

Heavy Seas The Partner Ships Stone, I believe. It is an Imperial Brown Ale or Imperial Brown IPA. It is brewed with blackstrap molasses as well. Sounds pretty good. 9% abv and 90 IBUs.

Did you keep that? I don't really see it around right now is why I'm asking.

Bought it last night. I never heard of it before, to be honest. I saw that it refers to itself as an Irish Porter and assumed it was a spring seasonal. Damn good beer.

Lagunitas High West-ified. I have bought 15 bottles of this for a total of $32. After this one I have 8 bottles left. Delicious.

I've seen this and am really curious. What's it like?

First of all, it's expensive, at least around here (was brewed in MI too. Dark Horse).

As far as the beer, bourbon and vanilla nose. Taste follows but you get the maple as the beer warms. Not overly sweet though like maple syrup could be.

If you have it on shelves, pick up a bottle and give it a try. I recommend it.

Smuttynose Vunderbar Pilsner. It's a crisp, refreshing pilsner. It's not usually what I'd drink in January but apparently winter is canceled because it's been spring time weather the last few days around here.

It's supposed to be 60 next Saturday in South Bend.
