Deschutes Mirror Mirror English Style Barleywine 2014 Reserve.

Lots of dark fruit. Pretty great. My only complaint is that the wax seal was pretty shoddy and I've now made a mess of it.

How's that?

I think it is very good. Lots of sweet notes though.

N: Caramel, vanilla, bourbon, nuts (pecans, walnuts), cocoa, a little roasted coffee and roasted malt.
P: Similar to the nose. Caramel, vanilla and bourbon, nuts, cocoa, roasted malt, some sweet dark fruits, figs, molasses.
F: The roasted malt, caramel, vanilla, figs, and molasses hang around.

Definitely worth buying.

Do you like Reese's peanut butter cups? If so

Peanut Butter Milk Stout | Belching Beaver Brewery | BeerAdvocate

If you want Hops
Stone RuinTen (crazy hoppy)
Knee Deep Simtra (hoppy but rather balanced)
Elysian Space Dust IPA (pretty fruity)
Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA (fruity)

Wheat beers
Allagash White
Sierra Nevada Kellerweis

That is it without doing any research.

You would probably like 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon though I dislike it. You also might like SanTan Mr. Pineapple though I find it to be just ok. Both are slightly fruity flavored wheat beers.

Okay, I have two sixers of Mosaic IPA, haven't had it out of the bottle yet so I'm interested to see if it's as good as it is on tap... This is my beer of 2015.

One Allagash White, had it a while back but I honestly forget what I thought of it...

Hell or High water... I know ptk isn't really a fruit beer guy but I like anything that isn't a super heavy stout or porter and fruit beers are second only to good IPAs for my tastes.... It's not the best watermelon I've had but I do enjoy it...

Two Big Daddy IPAs, always liked this one.

Four Celebrator Doubles... Again, a long time fav.

Just poured my first Mosaic, the hops are more aggressive on tap, but the base grapefruit and tropical flavors dont differ... I'd say tap is the way to go but this is still a great beer out of the bottle

You can find all kinds of ciders here,... Off the top of my head Crispin is a Cali cider and they do dry... I think... Though honestly I don't care for Crispin... For widely avaialble ciders I'll take Angry Orchard and Strongbow as my top two...

Though I also enjoy the variety of ciders that Ace produces.

For a lesser known Cali ciders, I'd suggest Sonoma Hacthet... At least of those I can think of right now...

I'm really blown away by this Mosaic,... In large part because its a Karl Strauss release... I've never really liked much from them and have long thought them an average at best brewer... But I was at a Chamber event in December and everyone was there giving samples of their various goods and there they were...

It reminds me of Hangers Orange Wheat, one home run brew in a line up of otherwise average or below beers...

Last night I had
Smuttynose Finest Kind IPA. This is the second time I have had this beer and this time from my IPA glass (first time was in a pint glass) and I still think it is just an ok IPA.

Stone RuinTen Triple IPA. I liked this much better last night in comparison to right after it came out. Last night was an A- beer (probably 91-93 range).

Now Lagunitas CitruSinensis from their onehitter series. I had this on tap one time before, and I wanted to see if it was different from the bottle. Tastes like someone mixed blood orange juice with champagne. Very interesting but not quite sure what to think of it.

I forgot what you said of this latest batch of bourbon barrel aged Arrogant Bastard Ale. I finally saw some around me. Would you recommend a six pack?

That is a hard one. It is a pretty good beer but nothing special. I like it more than the standard Arrogant Bastard. My notes from back in November were

Stone Bourbon Barrel Aged Arrogant Bastard. Pretty good, you can tell it is a 3rd or 4th fill as the bourbon and oak are in the background. Definitely some nice hops and malt with some vanilla and cola flavors. Just a little oak and caramel. Good but nothing amazing.

Ah. Never mind then. 13 a six pack is not worth it to me.

The apartment is getting to be a bit Grey Gardens, so I've been cleaning on this warm evening in West Michigan with The Kinks' Muswell Hillbillies in the background. Victory's Prima Pils is my beer of choice on nights like this. Probably my favorite American lager.

I am drinking boxed wine left over from a 4th of July picnic. I neglected to stop at the beer distributor by 9 p.m. following a round of golf and a few Woodchuck Pear Ciders at a friend's house. I wished to continue the pear experience and could not find an open distributor and no bar carries pear cider. FU Pennsylvania liquor laws! You have ruined a perfect day.
