Looking for something different. Been drinking a lot of Lagunitas IPA and Sierra Nevada IPA. Look for something else that is widely available that I will not have likely tried yet. I don't feel like drinking IPAs right now. Kind if burned out on hops as crazy as that sounds.

Anybody feel like making a recommendation?

Those are both pretty malty. Torpedo is really pretty big...more of a double.

I might suggest something a bit lighter that still has hops to see if it's the hops or the bigness of the beer.

Can't go wrong with Odell IPA on that front. Green Flash is also a great IPA.

Other, non IPA thoughts...

Do you have Oskar Blues out there? Dale's Pale is solid. Just a good quality pale that's not too hoppy.

For widely available beers that aren't IPAs

Sierra Nevada Kellerweis
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Deschutes Black Butte Porter
Stone Levitation Amber Ale
Lagunitas A Little Sumpn' Sumpin' American Pale Wheat Ale (though it is hoppy).
Stone Smoked Porter.

I can think of many other beers I would like to recommend but I am not sure if they would qualify as widely available (Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale, Victory Storm King etc).

Brought my buddy a bottle of High West Rendezvous Rye at our monthly poker game on Friday. Best Rye I've ever had (thanks pkt). Highly recommended. Really cool bottle, too; an uneven bottom and lots of air bubbles in the glass gave it an "old western" feel.

Put back some Don de Dieu and Old Stock Ale, too. And I won the game. Great night.

Congrats on the win. I know the conventional poker wisdom is to not drink while playing, but I've had better than average results with a few drinks in me. I'm on a cold run lately. Maybe it's time to start tying one on before I sit down. Hmmmm...

2nd that, I can't speak to the rest. Sierra Nevada also makes a respectable porter. I was enjoying it when we had a spell of mild weather recently. But the humidity has jumped up too much for me to be able to enjoy a porter right now. It'll definitely one of my go to beers in the fall.

Very happy to hear that the Rendezvous was enjoyed.

Old Fashioned with: (1) Bulleit 95 Rye; (2) two dashes of Agnostura bitters; and (3) just a splash of simple syrup.

I've gotten away from using ice, maraschino cherries, orange peel twist, etc. Much easier to make and highlights the whiskey instead of obscuring it.

Try using Amarena cherries for Manhattans and old-fashioneds instead of maraschino. There's a world of difference.

Great Divide Rumble Oak Aged IPA

Lots of toffee, orange, vanilla, caramel, coconut and pine on both the nose and the palate. Overall a good beer but not a great IPA.

Went to the Upland Brewery (Bloomington, IN) Tap House tonight. Had a couple Champagne Velvet's and then a Lost Coast Downtown Brown when I got home.

Southern Tier Pumking is pretty outstanding. Left hand Brewing Co Nitro Milk Stout has been a staple for a while now. Also for not being much of an IPA guy I really enjoyed Founders All Day IPA

Oskar Blues G'Knight Imperial Red IPA

This stuff is fantastic. Huge fan of almost everything Oskar Blues has to offer.

Drank a few too many Revolution Anti-Heroes last night. Feeling it at the office right now.

Eagle Rare bourbon. It's not mixing too well with the burrito I ate, though. Switching to beer, Sierra Nevada porter.
