[Old Fart Reminiscence Warning]

Back in '76 or so I made a batch of eggnog on a day off to bring to an "office" party when I worked at a book store. Trust me when I tell you that making the nog was quite the workout when one hasn't a power mixer on hand. When asked if I'd "laced" it with Jack Daniel's, I was able to say (with a straight face) "no."

I used George Dickel No. 8. It was a Christmas party with many happy reindeer.

My family's recipe for egg nog calls for a full 750ml bottle of Jameson and a jigger of spiced rum. It makes for one very effective cup of cheer.

I have never had egg nog with 'cheer' added to it... not really something i have ever come across... maybe it's a regional thing? anyway...

I'll give it a try and get back to you with a report.

If I can.

I enjoy using Southern Comfort non-alchoholic egg nog and adding Jameson whiskey to it. I make it in individual drink sizes.

I drank a bottle of Casa LaPostelle merlot last night; pretty respectable wine from Chile. I also realized that Saturday Night Live is much less amusing when I'm drunk.

I've got single, lonely bottle of Harp in my fridge. I think I need to go out and get him some backup.

So I've noticed via my occasional perusings of this thread that you happen to be by far the most frequent poster in it, so I have to ask, does your liver hurt? I know I couldn't keep up with you on a nightly basis! I guess I'll just live vicariously through your imbibing. Cheers!

Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout. A great stout at a great price. Lots of roasted coffee, bitter cocoa, licorice and cherries. Some vanilla, floral notes (think fresh flowers) and caramel in the background.

No liver hurting though you think it would. Oddly, I rarely ever get drunk, though occasionaly I get to tipsy (not on purpose). I just really enjoy the flavors of whisk(e)y, beer and wine, and I am a little bit of a foody. Pretty much I enjoy flavors and trying new things so I drink and eat.

Drank plenty of the new Crown Royale Maple. Pretty solid. Not too think like a lot of other flavored whiskeys.

In the ice or no ice debate, I'm all for neat. I feel the ice ruins it and I have the issue, if you want to call it that, of just being able to drink straight whiskey/bourbon/scotch like it's soda. The whiskey alone gives me plenty of flavor that I don't want to ruin it with ice.

Love the new maple crown royal.

Yeah man, it's good stuff. It's not thick like the honey whiskeys. I'm actually seriously considering infusing it with bacon. I think it would a perfect combination. Think about it.
