Last night went out with my brother and had a few beers. All of 'em local to the Houston area - or at least Texas - aside from the PAA.

B-52 - Wheez The Shake
Prairie Artisan Ales - Christmas Bomb
Brash - Black Masses
Noble Rey - Yub Nub
Town in City - Island Porter

I've heard good things about B 52. I went to Brash, which was fun. Town in City is one of my buddy's absolute favorite breweries in Houston, and that guy is picky.

As in:

It's been a few years since you've had a Newcastle, or

You had the Newcastle tucked away in your cabinet for a few years?

Newcastle is one of my favorite "go to" beers.

Ha, the former... I drank a ton of NC in college but haven’t had any in at least a few years...

How does it compare to "Campfire"?

Drinking Moscow Mules, tonight. Got the copper cups, so we'll be drinking these more often.

I really like Rendezvous but it is nothing like Campfire. It is a very good blend of older and younger eyes to give a nice hit of rye spices but it also has some mint and baking spices to tame it. My biggest complaint is that the price keeps creeping up. Not sure it is worth the $60 they are asking for around here. I like it much better in the $40-50 range.

Have you tried the new Lagunitas Willet stuff?

Yep, sounds like I’d like it... I like Lagunitas and when I do have beer I like to drink more and a couple in one sitting so there’s nothing wrong with ‘light’ for me... I’ll have to look for that. Thank You

Got a care pkg of Belching Beaver in from Vista.

Phantom Bride IPA
Swerve City IPA
Mosaic DIPA
Batch No. 5 Blackberry Sour
Hoppy Hoppy Night NE IPA

Batch No.5 is limited release. I don't like Sours in general but this was very good. Hearty, not just liquid sweetarts. 6.8% for a little kick. Nice looking bottles too.

With the Hoppy Hoppy Night... I usually prefer WC-IPA over NE-IPA but this thing screams Nelson hops which are the absolute best in my book. 7%. Can is killer too.

The Mosaic DIPA is a passer but I don't care for DIPA's besides Hangar's Double Betty and That Brewery's Batch 98.

Found a bomber of Stone Merc Machine in my hometown. Definitely trying this.

Also: Against the Grain Pile of Face IPA. Just about 3 months old but doesn't taste old at all. Lots of malt flavor and pine, super delicious stuff.

Grand Marnier. Feeling old AF, especially sippin' on Gra Ma. Still good though.

If you are one that frequents Zipp's, get their Zippairita with GM. That's mama's go to. I like the Chambord personally when feeling fruity and frisky.

I really enjoyed Merc Machine when I had it (less than a month from bottling). Best Stone beer that I had this year. Not sure how it is holding up a month later.

Death by Coconut.

And my SIL brought me a bomber of last year’s Surly’s Darkness that she randomly found at Total Wine. I’ll have that sometime this weekend.

Well I really was looking forward to it based on your recommendation. I'm hoping it held up.

Another Pile of Face. This would be a frequent buy if this had distribution to Austin.

If I bump into any of you mooks at the Citrus Bowl I'll buy you a Guinness with a Jameson chaser.

Or the other way 'round.

Or both.

Or thrice.

I am currently 3 bottles in with a few left to go.

I like it. It is a steal at $13 for a 6 pack. Falls short of the best BA stouts but kills it based on QPR.

Sadly I couldn't find any while home. And Austin doesn't seem to get it via distribution. I'm glad to hear it's good though.

It probably has held up but it definitely is shooting for a combo of NE IPA and WC IPA. In my experience NE IPA’s just don’t last as long as WC IPAs.

Had a 10 Barrell Cucumber Crush Sour today... it was highly enjoyable. Very good for those into Sours.
