In what way? Do you have a recommended replacement? It strikes me as a way to get the crowd involved, cooperative and cohesive.

I was at the Utah game last year with my (then 23 year old) son. It his first visit to ND and a football game. He was reserved at first, but after observing his semi-fossilized Dad screaming his lungs out a few times he roared in enthusiastically. It's a vocal wave.

And isn't crowd involvement and noise a common goal?
