The frustration from Saturday’s embarrassing blowout loss to Alabama has apparently spilled over to USC’s practice field.

What was described as a chippy session Tuesday turned Trojan teammates on one another following a pass breakup late in the practice. All-Pac-12 wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster didn’t appreciate the level of celebration defenders displayed after making a play on him, leading to the receiver and safety Ykili Ross going at it with each other.

Specifically, Smith-Schuster took a few swings at the defensive back before teammates and coaches broke up the scuffle. Smith-Schuster then stormed off the field briefly before being coaxed back by Adoreé Jackson, although the receiver didn’t participate the remainder of practice.

Despite the Trojan-on-Trojan violence, Clay Helton didn’t seem particularly upset over the situation. In fact, the head coach seemed quite pleased with the fire his team was showing.

“We’ve got a mad football team right now,” the coach said. “Wish we could play today, to be honest with you. But it was ultra-competitive out here today, which is a good sign.”

One of Helton’s other players disagreed, with offensive tackle Zach Banner labeling it “unacceptable.” “You’re not allowed to do that with your teammates,” the lineman added.

The first test of who’s right or wrong will come Saturday as USC will look t bounce back against Utah State Saturday.

I love Juju Smith.

Out of all the SoCal kids that ND has pretended to have a shot at over the years, Juju might be my favorite and the one kid who I honestly thought should have ended up at ND.

I get that. I thought he'd do well here too. Then last year a USC buddy of mine who is plugged in there told me what an a-hole Juje is and how disliked he is by his teammates. And I'm not talking about "oh, he's too cocky and it turns people off"...he's just not a good teammate at all, a major prima Donna and really just a dick.

Knowing how ND is, I'm not sure how good a fit he would be in South Bend. TIFWIW.

One of my BWW OC crew is the parent of an SC player. He says the same thing Bored, JuJu would have been better off at ND. The way he carries himself is not in line with your typical LA turned Trojan player.

USC Football has broken discipline system (The Daily Trojan)

The writer reviews the off-field disciple issues at USC and at Alabama this year, then says:
While many may argue that these (Bama's) punishments are not severe enough, the main difference I would like to highlight between Alabama’s handling of their disciplinary matters and USC’s is that with Alabama, the players were suspended indefinitely before their charges were fully processed, whereas USC responds with allowing two men accused of rape to practice with the rest of the team.

Just because they have not been found guilty does not mean they are people who should be representing the University. Athletes should be held to a higher standard than regular students because they are in a more high-profile situation where outsiders automatically associate the quality of the university based on the football team. It also hurts the situation of other football players and athletes, most of whom are normal, kind and morally responsible people.

I admire the bravery of Nick Saban to suspend some of his star players just because of the association between the athlete and the crime. When the facts are settled and the dust has cleared, Saban still has the wherewithal to adjust the punishment as necessary, but removing the athlete from the team for an indefinite amount of time is the better option for the team as a whole.

I think this might be the worst excuse I've ever seen for getting blown out like they did:

Yes that might be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. If you are not going to take AlafreakingBama seriously then I don't know what to say.

that's complete bullshit....there were so many players saying they have been awaiting for this game since spring ball...they have been watching film on bama even more than normal opponents as they had all summer long..

Sadly, they have a much better chance to overwhelm Stanford with pure talent. I believe Stanford is the better team but USC has a boatload of talent and can turn the tide quickly (except against the Tide).

This is the worst excuse. If you aren't taking the best overall team in the last decade serious everyone needs to be fired because you have no business in coaching.

Bah gawd, shades of USC from the '06 title game against Texas! So arrogant and egotistical, they thought they were the better team and deserved to win that game. So funny that they would say they didn't take the Tide seriously. No, you got prison sexed. Hard. No lube. Smashed worse than we were against 'Bama in the championship. When you squeak by a MAC team, "you didn't take them seriously." Nobody overlooks the current Alabama team.

Rumors are that former 5* OL Chuma Edoga is on his way out as well, deleted all of his tweets and started following UGA coaches apparently. Helton is legit gonna get fired after one full season. Don't think I've ever seen a coach go from 0 to dumpster fire fast.
