Wiltfong's right. In the grand scheme of things, this really isn't much of a deal. Just an embarrassing footnote.
Now if Sark shows up drunk on the regular at university events, or gets a DUI on his way home one night, it becomes a big deal. If USC goes 7-5 and the knives start to come out, maybe it becomes a big deal. But if he goes about his business the right way and they have a decent season, you'll never hear about this again.

He may be right that people won't remember this, and we all have problems with booze or know people who do, but this sort of behavior is a sign of an unserious person. Whatever anybody thinks of them, it is hard to imagine Nick Saban or Urban Meyer doing anything like this. There are only so many things you can control in life, and this is one of them.

Do we really want to go there?

Ya because Nick Saban has never gotten in a players face. Brian Kelly is the only guy who ever yelled at a player on national TV, he's just a mean cuss who can't control himself.

Could you imagine what would happen if Brian Kelly did this at a ND fan rally with the team and their families in attendance? Wizard would be running around the Sports Center set screaming "Fire Kelly!" in a green t-shirt that said 'prove-it' on the front and 'overrated' on the back.

Y'all are letting your homerism get the best of your rationality if you're honestly going to defend Brian Kelly's behavior during that game as anything approaching acceptable. I give him a lot of credit for getting his temper under control since then, but that wasn't okay.

What other fan bases do you troll?

Good one, let's see your diploma.

Don't need to see my diploma. It would be my paystub. Not an alum. Really sad if you are an alum and always take the negative side every chance you get. You don't have to be a koolaid drinker but you also don't have to take the negative side on every issue involving ND. If you think a coach losing his temper and yelling at a player is as bad as an alcoholic not handling himself in public then you obviously were not an athlete. Maybe you were just an athletic supporter. I think your SECSPN blood runs deeper than your ND blood.

Just stop, you're talking out of your ass. I never said Brian Kelly's actions were as severe as getting drunk at a team function. I merely pointed out that we're not in a position to be throwing stones as indiscriminately as some posters were doing.

You post a picture of Brina Kelly's "purple face" and then follow that with this^

I have had many coach's get in my face and my kid's face. I have had my head about yanked off when the coach grabbed my facemask to get in my face. Never bothered me. Just because it bothered you doesn't mean we are irrational and BK's actions are unacceptable. Tyrone Willingham never got in anyone's face and we saw what kind of records that brought us.

So because BK got mad on national tv people aren't allowed to criticize Sark? How are you not saying the two are similar?

I've had coaches get in my face, too. Not on NBC. Sark being drunk isn't the problem, it's the timing and venue.

*Sigh." Everyone is allowed to criticize Sark. Read my first post on the matter. Someone played the "Saban and Urban would never get caught doing this!" card. Well Saban and Urban have never approached Purple Face, either. That was the extent of my comments. Not that they're equal. Or that Sark should be immune from criticism. Just that Sark isn't the only coach to have fallen short of the what-would-Saban-do criterion.

You're kidding, right? Saban "has never approached purple face"? That's hilarious.

He had a huge drinking problem at UW that was kept generally hush-hush until after he left for USC. He rubbed a lot of the UW people wrong and was probably heading towards a firing sooner rather than later. Also, I didn't know this until today, but apparently his wife left him because he's an alcoholic and not addressing his behavior.

He's a great recruiter and "good enough" coach to win at USC.

USC has so much going for them compared to other major programs it should take a idiot (Kiffin) for them not to be a consistent 10 win team. They are the only Blue Blood program on the entire west coast, are located on maybe the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country, and have some of the best weather in the country as well as being in LA. So jealous.

Do you even realize that no one on here even came close to defending Kelly, much less bring him up? In that post you quoted, the guy praised OTHER coaches...clearly he did not say anything nice about BK. You just took a cheap shot at Kelly for absolutely no reason. Seriously dude, how can you not see that?

Now, if the guy had said KELLY would never act that way, then I'd see where you are coming from (wouldn't agree with it, but I get it). But that poster said nothing about Kelly. You just saw an opportunity (no idea why) to rip Kelly and you ran with it. It was weak and if you took a step back and looked at it objectively, you'd agree. You made a point that wasn't relevant until someone praised. Kelly for being squeaky clean, which that poster hadn't.

Getting drunk and giving a speech in front of 2,500 donors and fans is not the same as BK yelling at a player.

I'm willing to bet this is only par for the course in terms of how mad they really get, and I am willing to defend Kelly, because let's face it, his guys were f*cking up on that day and badly. That was just piss poor execution and piss poor effort to locate the ball (in TJ Jones' case). Are we really going to penalize Kelly because his tan isn't as good as Urban's or Nick's?

Wow, Urban in that MSU game...who gives a shit if he called a fair catch (He didn't, by the looks of it). It was still a bad hit, he should have been talking to Hyde.

TIFWIW, but according to a southern cal fan on another site, Haden has been digging around, and there are rumors that Sarkisian may have been inebriated at the practice before the event. If true, you can stick a fork in Sarkisian.

Sad if true. But I would want to keep "8 win Sark" around as long as possible. The last thing CFB needs is a very good coach at USC.

This is getting more and more delicious. Would love for SC's class to fall apart as a result, but I doubt I'll be that fortunate.
