Evidently, Dixon was expelled due to sexual misconduct allegations. The federal government has 121 schools under possible Title IX violation investigations at this time. USC's compliance and legal felt their hearings were following federal regulations. Dixon's lawyers argued that USC’s sexual misconduct investigation process, “is utterly lacking in due process, with no hearing, no right to counsel, no rules of evidence, no presumption of innocence, no right to possess copies of witness statements and evidence and no right to confront witnesses against him.” This boiled down to a "he said, she said" situation. Some posts have said the female went to his room (? on campus). She filed a rape complaint with USC Title IX and also with the LAPD - since withdrawn but can be refiled. The victim has been the subject of harassment.

USC, a private university, had a Conduct hearing, found Dixon violated multiple sections of their Student Conduct Code, and heard his appeal which was denied and then expelled him.

Title IX's purpose is prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program or activity that is federally funded.

Will she refile with the LAPD? Will USC legal appeal? Calling ESPN Outside the Lines...

It's inevitable at this point that he is reinstated. He hasn't practiced with the team since the story broke last year.

Cope-Fitzpatrick will be back, yes, if he passes his exams. He too hasn't practiced in quite some time, and when he was practicing in the spring, he was behind a walk-on.

I could be way off base here, but wasn't the girl a student manager of the football team? If it really was consensual and she cried rape because of whatever reasons she had, maybe they kicked him off the team because he broke the rules about "fraternizing with the help" so to speak and brought a lot of negative attention to the school and team. I know there are rules about players staying away from the student managers and trainers (and vice versa). With him sleeping with a person the rules forbid him to see and bringing all this negative publicity on the team, I would kick him off too.

I don't know about the rules of the team. I do know she slept with another unnamed player (per the court's report), and it doesn't sound like he's gone. Also, that night she went to Bryce's room to smoke weed and have sex at 1 a.m. (they had previous sexual encounters). His roommate said to him it sounded consensual.

In future similar "he said, she said" situations, we may see college football coaches/universities suspend players (indefinitely) for "violation of team rules" with the caution that football participation is a privilege.

I haven't heard officially but he wasn't playing this year obviously. He would then have 2 years behind Max Browne and have to fight Sam Darnold who is in the same class. Town started off as being the #1 QB in the class nationally. By the end of last year he'd be lucky to make the top 5 in LA alone. Somewhere in the Blake Barnett, Josh Rosen or KJ Costello threads I predicted he'd lose out to Darnold and edn up at SJSU or SDSU.

1. If anybody read Bruce Feldman's latest book on quarterbacks, you would see that this isn't a surprise. In a nutshell, not only was Town massively overrated, he stopped loving football. He was burnt out big-time. He found a renewed passion for the game and improved a lot his senior year, but still this really isn't a surprise. He saw the writing on the wall with the other freshmen getting many more reps than him, and instead of fighting like Kessler did when he was a freshman, he quit.

2. This might hurt USC with Daelin Hayes. He and Town and Town's family were VERY close, and many speculated that he was a big reason Hayes committed to USC.

Four-star linebacker Daelin Hayes played with USC freshman quarterback Ricky Town last year at St. Bonaventure, but Sunday, news spread that Town was looking to leave USC.

Amidst reports that USC freshman quarterback Ricky Town requested a transfer Sunday, his former teammate Daelin Hayes opined on whether the news impacted his current commitment to the Trojans.

Hayes played at St. Bonaventure with Town before he moved back to Ann Arbor (Mich.) as a junior.

“I just saw it about five minutes ago,” said laughed Hayes. “I haven’t talked to Ricky yet, but as far as my commitment goes, Ricky Town is Ricky Town and I am who I am.

“My commitment is my commitment. Does this say things one way or another? No, not really. It’s sad to hear because it’s a guy I built up a relationship with over the last year or so.

I've spoken with 2 reporters and they were both amazed at his poise. So his quotes above don't surprise me at all. He's given glowing quotes about USC to reporters while at the same time quietly taking visits to other schools, so he knows what he's doing.

Not saying he's going to flip from USC, but this one is far from over IMHO. If I'm ND, I'm going to continue recruiting him hard, because he's still actively listening and speaking to other schools.

Still think he's destined for DE, as he's about 6-3/6-4, 250 pounds right now, after a year or two in college he's destined to be 260-270, pretty big for a LB'er. However, I don't recall a kid ever getting so much hype for actually doing so little on the football field. He's played very little football, and he doesn't really jump out at you on film and he's a 5*? Eh. Not buying it.

I think he could possibly live up to that based on potential alone, but 5* rating should be based off of a lot more than just pure potential. Recruits should have to prove it and earn that on the football field.

Don't think I posted that to oppose what you were saying. I posted it because it was there. I was impressed a reporter got that out in 4 hours.

I went to the St Bonaventure @ JSerra game last year and sat in the St. Bonaventure section. I heard a lot of stories regarding the two, some many that it made me ask if Hayes was living with Town... like Tyjon Lindsey does with Tate Martell.

Even though I'm President of the Javon McKinley fan club, I'd take Daelin Hayes over JM and everyone left in this class not named Rashan Gary.

You know TH, I was going to touch on what you brought up. He has done very little during HS football season to get excited about. But the world of HS sports has changed. Summer camps and tourneys are more important than HS seasons in most sports now. Basketball has been that way forever. That being said, Hayes has impressed everyone with his game in the summer. I stood behind the kid last season and he is a physical freak for a 16 y/o or a 26 y/o for that matter. His physical skill set is off the charts. I'd take him over Caleb Kelly if I had to chose because ND has some guys who can do most of what Kelly can based on their physicality. There aren't any 6-4, 250+ sub 4.6 guys on ND's roster unless Ishaq can do it but we know he isn't an LB. Hayes has shown not just good OLB skills but has done very well covering routes by All American WR's at the Opening. Impressive.
