Hell yeah. I've been eyeing that one since the schedules were released. I love Austin, and seeing us play in DK Royal is going to be unreal.

I started thinking about going just yesterday. I had a brain fart moment and thought that it was in Austin next year, but then was disappointed when I checked the schedule. I'm not exactly sure if there's a game I'd rather go to than that one.

Once USC offered a few weeks ago, this was pretty much a done deal. Only surprised that it has taken this long. I'd be shocked if he wasn't a commit within the next two days.

Really confused by all the crystal ball reports to Duke. Everything I had read and heard is that he was all USC once he was offered, as he was waiting on that offer for quite some time. If a schmuck like me knew he was going to USC, how did all these guys miss so badly?

It's actually a great pick-up for USC as a 2nd QB. They were set on taking a 2nd one (in the off-chance that Max Browne decommits, after Kessler leaves they'd be down to Town and a project in Greene, plus a true freshman in 2016's class), and this is a quality pick-up for them. I actually like Sills better, but he hasn't played much football bc of that weird school his dad founded, so who knows how good he is.

USC now has 16 spots filled in their 2015 class with 9 spots to go. After the sanctions, they have a lot of holes to fill across their lineup. With three WR now committed, a fourth would be a luxury that I do not believe they can afford. So the Payton commitment helps us with ESB going forward, in my opinion.

Word in Troy is that projected starting Sam LB rSoph Jabari Ruffin has a torn ACL and will be out for the season. This has not been confirmed and may turn out to be just forum chatter. But if true, that would put true Soph Quinton Powell at starting Sam with true Frosh Uchenna Nwosu (6'2/200 3) as his backup. Obviously this is terrible news for Ruffin and the Trojans, if true. No one celebrates injuries, even to bitter rivals. But this is a perfect example of what USC is going to deal with this and next year following the sanctions.

Linebacker is not the only place they're hurting. Justin Wilcox, their new DC, is trying to install the 3-4 and they have been practicing without a scholarship NT. Cody Temple has a concussion and Antwaun Woods is dealing with an elbow injury. Both should be back before Fresno State, but those are valuable reps that their DL is missing out on as a unit. We all know what a bend-don't-break 3-4 is like with a gimpy DL. That may be the reality for USC to start the season. I could see them coming out of Tucson 3-3, with a 1-3 record in PAC12 play. A few key injuries could put them in a spiral simply due to attrition.
