I think ND is in a perfect spot. The Louisville loss was credited to playing so many big games in short span. Not knocking NDs schedule but when you are a Michigan or USC playing each other then playing OSU and Penn State or flavor of the year in the Big these guys are going to lose games they shouldn’t. ND can easily schedule themselves into the playoffs while making round 1 playoff essentially their conference championship game. I don’t like it, I’d rather play USCs and Michigan’s every week but for argument sake in regard to scheduling and playoffs ND can create their own path.

Yeah except we won’t do that and we will schedule the best opponent from each conference in successive weeks while also catching a few middling programs on their “up” years and each of those games will be at their place at 8:00 on ESPN/ABC.

We have a limited history with Texas. USC is our biggest and most traditional rival. It would suck for the sport to lose that game. While I wouldn't let USC's decision to drop us from their schedule dictate whether or not we should ultimately join a conference, I think it would factor in if/when our hand is forced to do so.

B1G doesn't just make the most sense regionally, but now just about all of our historically biggest rivals are in that conference (USC, scUM, Sparty, Purdue, etc). I'm sure we could still rotate some combination of Pitt, Navy, Stanford and Army in the mix as non-conference opponents in this hypothetical scenario.

However, understanding the long history between the B1G (most specifically, scUM) and ND, I'll believe it when I see it lol.

Riley may not want to play the Irish, but given the history, I wonder if the AD and Prez would go along with that?

Riley also talked about how the bar was set "too high" if you have to go undefeated or have one loss to compete for a championship. He is a total ass clown. I hope USC loses every game.

I mean WTF is he talking about how Bama scheduled to win championships? Bama still had to win the SECCG and then win 2 more games in the CFP. Riley couldn't even win the PAC with Caleb Freaking Williams.

Not that I think the USC game goes away, but if it does, the replacement should be Alabama if they would agree to it.

Only other school that replaces the legacy component of the game and the intersectionality of the game. With all due respect to Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan, they are not intersectional at all.

Texas is important in Texas but they don't match up to Alabama.

Not that I think any of this would happen but it's a fun thought exercise.

No shot Alabama would agree to home and homes going forward, they would want neutral site games in Atlanta. ND needs to have a west coast presents each season, so keeping USC is important if not get UCLA on board.

You don't throw away the greatest intersectional rivalry in all of college football. It helps with recruiting, and the players do enjoy getting out to the west coast in November. It's a brief reprieve from the northern Indiana winter that's beginning.

He got lucky the first year with Williams. Their OL got away with a ton of holding and we couldn't get to him in time. Golden made sure that didn't happen last year, absolutely embarrassed USC. Now Riley's punk ass is trying to dodge us. Pathetic.

He is a piece or crap. Someone the SEC should hire.

Did they retire Palmer's number or Reggie's? Leinart? Caleb had one decent season and didn't even lead them to the promised land. His last season tanked after he met us.

I don't think you can retire #3 at this point. It used to be all the big playmakers wore that number, but it's lost it's luster a bit in recent years. There's a lot of greats that have worn that number though: Montana, Mirer, Powlus, Darius Walker, Arnaz Battle, Floyd, etc. It got tarnished a bit when VanderDoesn't chose it, but whatever.

A little surprised at USC for that move. Yes Williams won a Heisman, which is great. And he's very talented. But he never even won a bowl game, let alone a conference title or national championship, which I'd think would be the standard at a place with their history.
