Did Reilly make it to practice yesterday?

He was.
Things were back to normal at Howard Jones Field for the Trojans. Head coach Lincoln Riley returned to the team after missing consecutive practices earlier in the week. A USC spokesperson told reporters Wednesday that while Riley is back, he is still being treated for pneumonia, the illness that sidelined him earlier in the week.

Maybe he's weighing up the cost benefit of quitting now vs quitting after getting pumped by Washington, Oregon & UCLA. Hard to see an NFL owner selling a fanbase on an exciting new coach coming off 5 losses in his last 6 games....
Which is worse? Having 5 losses or quitting on your team after 2 consecutive defeats against good teams?

Didn't think you'd ever read this about "kingmaker" Riley.

Quite the cover story by the author that it was the USC defense that let down Caleb Williams against ND and not the 3 interceptions, 6 sacks, 11 TFLs, and 3 forced fumbles. Maybe if you're going to play the blame game put some shade on the offensive line?

Why is the media so obsessed with this guy and giving him a pass? He's probably the best QB in the country. He has not been good against ranked teams. Both can be true.

For once, I thought the game vs ND had nothing to do with the SC defense being poor.

Eh, I can’t stand him or his cocky attitude, however, I can understand the emotional outbursts. Don’t hold this against him, not everyone is made of steel. Maybe this is an excellent learning moment for him. A few pounds of humility is more than needed for most these younger people.

Geez. Pull it together.
It was probably staged so he could remake his image as a leader who lives & dies w/ every win/loss vs a hired gun that has no real connection to team/school. After the Utah game, there were rumors to that effect that he was going sit out the rest of the season now that chances for CFP & Heisman were out the window.

He's lost six games at USC and in games they've averaged 34 points. He hitched his wagon to Lincoln Riley as a recruit and in The Portal. Dance with the dingleberry who brought you I guess.

The emotion shows he gives a damn. If it has a negative impact on how he performs both now and in the pros, that's going to be something different.

Again, I hope Ryan Poles and the CHI Bears don't touch.

I can't wait for the first person on this board to suggest Grinch coach safeties at ND. You just KNOW that post is going to come. Wait for it.

43 years old and he's had FOUR P5 DC jobs.

Utterly inevitable. If they had a shred of defense they're probably unbeaten or a one loss team at worst.

If Aranda gets fired at Baylor, I hope he gets snagged up quick as a DC before SC can get him. That's a nightmare scenario.

The SC defense is absolutely terrible.
I don’t think SC’s defense will ever be *good* under Riley because he fundamentally doesn’t care about it. But a good DC can improve it enough to where SC will become a real problem.
