Hmm, to answer the questions about Lane and others posed to me on this thread...better to answer on WeAreSC....our forum is open, with little to no moderation or word filters, you are free to ask any question bluntly, but there will be no holding back on replies that actually garner honest debate. We have so many opposing fans and trolls take advantage of this, but it also means we have learned that we must back up our arguments with facts, links and relevant articles in order to effectively defend our position.

I doubt anyone would listen here, or care, to what I have to say...it is your right. I think I'll stick to respectful Notre Dame football banter sans the system debate.

* I was told by moderators when signing here that this was a Notre Dame site for Irish fans, and to remember that. The only reason I posted an opinion on CUM was because he was not a ND coach, not affiliated in any manner with the university.

I am here because of Notre Dame football and not USC.

Wait....you come to this board to interject the "Trojan perspective" in a thread about Urban Meyer, then when asked to elaborate on your (seemingly absurd) opinion, you answer by making a sales pitch for your USC board and stating that you doubt anyone cares what you have to say? Actually, since you were asked, I'd say someone might care. I know I'm curious how you will demonstrate that Lane Kiffen is better at anything than Urban Meyer with "facts, links and relevant articles."

Again, this is not a personal attack. I welcome outside opinion. My issue with your posts so far is not that they are by a SC fan.

If he wants a place where he (1) has can recruit locally, (2) is warm, and (3) loves baseball, then dude should come and coach the Houston Cougars...Not that they could afford him, but it sure fits.

Be just like when he was with Utah, and there's a chance (a slim one) they'll enter the Big 12 when all is said and done.

Penn State is declining rapidly. They need something fresh to liven things up.

ND, UM, OSU...those are his dream schools. I can't see him going to PSU.

I thought the OC was suppose to get the job.

Meyer's wife gets a lot of say in where he goes.

I can't see that part of PA as being too appealing vs. Florida

Because I have to live with a crap ton of osu fans. I have been sick of listening to there crap for so long that I don't ever want to see this downward spiral end. I have know they were a dirty team for years and was ridiculed and trash talked because I said these things. I don't ever want this high to end!
Have to agree big time as I lived in Columbus/Daton for 7 years. Those fans are pretty bad-no lets say very bad. It must be quite the come down in Ohio these days-and with more guys still screwing up. As far as Meyer is concerned he's getting a little old with all his sniffing around looking for the best chance to win again. Notre Dame now has a coach for his equal-let him go to southern cal. Kelly can handle it. Meyer is a great coach but his desire for the limelight is not attractive to me anymore. All that talk about family and Fla forever-if these rumors are true he goes down a few notches for me.

I will bet you any amount of money that that does not happen.

I get that there's no chance of it happening, but you know, "having dreams is what makes life tolerable"...

The other thought I had here was UCLA. Fits his profile and is going to be one of the few open spots with OSU, PSU and NC. (Or maybe one of the AZ's, but I don't think they have the financial wherewithal). Of course, is 100/1 shot, not better than the Coogs...And speculating is fun in its own right.

Honestly if I was Urban Myer, he has already won two National Championships and had a player win the Heisman.

I would rather go to a school that needs help and build it up. Rather than take a school already close and just push them over. No satisfaction in that. In my opinion.

No, it's not all but a done deal. There is still A LOT of things to play out, most notably the NCAA and what they're going to do to OSU. If they lay the wood to OSU or even give them a somewhat uneven playing field to work with the next few years, you better believe that Urban will think twice about coaching there. There is also his wife and children he'll be taking under consideration as well, and word is that his wife doesn't want to live in the cold again...

I think he meant to use the sarcasm font when writing that, at least that's how I took it.

He will be at Texas within two years building some kind of college football empire.

I would be surprised if Meyer wasn't the coach at Ohio State next year. The man loves Ohio State in ways fans of other schools can only comprehend towards their schools.

OSU is such a shthole

I doubt you've ever been to Columbus, or Ohio State, or you wouldn't be making statements like that.

that would be scary what he could do at a school like that...and lord knows he the job was available and he wanted it. he probably wouldn't even have to interview.

As for the guy who said why is he on ESPN all the time if hes concerned about his family. ESPN built a studio onto his house so he doesn't have to come to Bristol all the time. I would say that puts an importance on his family. I am guessing that the amount of time he spends with ESPN is nothing compared to the time away from home as the head coach at Florida.

I think it is really, really premature to consider Ohio State a lock. I'd say there is a 50% chance (at best) he ends up there after this season. The truth is that most people "in the know" keep reiterating that he'd really like to go to Texas... but certain things have to happen for that to even be a possibility (e.g. Mack Brown = out the door).

I have no "inside knowledge" but my Dad and his friends are pretty close to Adazzio... and through the grapevine everything I've ever heard is that he'd really like to remain in a warm weather climate and won't make a move until he thinks he has the right job to succeed. Him talking to Arizona seems to support the warm weather thing. Heck, if UCLA had the money, I bet they would be ahead of Ohio State on the pecking order right now with failure to monitor coming down from the NCAA.

So I think it's really disingenuous to sell any recruits, whether it's Ifeadi or the 2013 guys like Jalin Marshall that Urban Meyer or any proven coach will take that job. Look at how many people turned down USC with sanctions looming.

The warm weather's just as important for recruiting too, not just for personal preference.

i really think it's greater than 50%...closer to 75 imo. the guy almost instantly got a job with espn the moment he quit...this was simply a year away and the battery is recharged and he'll be recruiting for the buckeyes shortly.
