I don't buy Baylor as deserving to be ahead of us.

They have blowout wins that really don't count, and their best win is 28-7 over Texas, who previously had a blowout loss to BUY (41-7) and loss to UCLA (20-17).

Say what you want about Purdue, Michigan, and Syracuse... They're all power 5 teams and Baylor's played, what, 2 power 5 teams? Get a fucking schedule Boise Jr.

No, no and no. What we did do is beat Stanford, who was #14 in the country.

Ole Miss and Miss St. had good wins, we did too.

Ole Miss's was better.

I think Stanford is good, but I think the teams that Ole Miss & Miss St. played were better. Regardless, one of those teams jumping us would not upset me.

Ole Miss beat Bama. Bama. They might prove to be overrated, but they're Bama. That's a better win than Stanford. Miss State absolutely blew out A&M. That and beating LSU on the road are better than our 2 best wins.

Not saying they're better teams, but I really think they deserve to be ahead of us right now. And this is coming from someone who hates the pro-SEC bias.

So just because they won games against opponents a bit better than Stanford, they should jump us simply off of that? I thought we just finished week 5?

What does that say about rankings if a team can jump that many slots in the top 20 because of one win?

Besides Stanford, the teams we beat are absolutely terrible.

I'm just so sick of every person's team saying "we deserve to be ranked here because this team lost to X and this team lost to X." NO ONE is objective anymore. Furthermore, it's week 5. These rankings don't matter yet.

And Baylor's got a pretty tough conference schedule. It's not their fault Texas sucks, same as its not our fault Michigan sucks. We scheduled who we scheduled.

Edit: Not directed at you in particular Koon. I just know you are on Twitter and I know you see all the nonsensical things people say when a pundit puts out their personal "rankings."

Fair. But they did beat the #3 team in the country.

I am with you that it doesn't mean much for the rankings if a team can jump that many slots. I personally don't think these rankings matter yet. And there are a lot of tangential factors that I'm not accounting for that have already been spoken about - i.e. SEC bias.

Those are big jumps for the Miss teams. I mean, 7 and 8 spots respectfully. I don't buy it. I see it.

1) FSU
2) Auburn
3) Baylor
4) ND
5) Ole Miss
6) Miss St
7) Bama

Actually I agree with this, but I don't believe it will happen that way. I think the pundits throw one of the Mississippi teams ahead of us. My top 5 would be:

1. Auburn
2. FSU
3. ND
4. Miss State
5. Ole Miss

6. Baylor, I think we are better than.

Yes

I would have no problem with Ole Miss and Miss St. jumping us but I would be upset if TCU jumped us.

my rankings would be

1. Auburn
2. FSU
3. Ole Miss
4. Miss St
5. ND
6. Baylor
7. Alabama

I don't care where we are rated this week. I am keenly interested in where we will be rated in two weeks, however.

It says that basing the entire season off of preseason rankings as the starting point is crap. If I had a vote, I'd do my darndest to vote based on resume to-date, with zero focus on prior week polls.

Alabama 's record in their last 7 games.......

4-3!

Do they have to much 5 star talent?
Is it an all star individualism problem?

I don't think A&M is better than Stanford. I think Stanford would actually beat aTm if they played.

Auburn wins, and moves to #1 because, ya know, they beat the 3rd best team in all of college football.

I enjoy the non-ND games best when I have someone to root for. I'm torn on a couple of these.

Baylor #5 vs. TCU #9. Schedule is almost identical after this game. Rooting for TCU I assume?

MSU #3 has a pretty easy schedule after Auburn #2. Alabama and Ole Miss, nothing else note worthy. However, Auburn has Bama, Ole Miss, Texas AM, Georgia. Gotta be rooting for Auburn with the assumption they drop at least one, right?

USC vs. #10 Arizona. I know we want USC to win, but I'm rooting for Zona. Fuck USC.

AM #14 vs. Ole Miss #3. Ole Miss still has LSU, Auburn, MSU. Texas AM has the same. I want Ole Miss to lose, but I really hate AM. Toss up for me.

UCLA vs. Oregon. Gotta be rooting for Oregon, right? Strictly for recruiting purposes.

IE's thoughts? What helps the Irish the most?

I'm thinking the same as you Koon. On the last game you mentioned, I definitely wan't Ole Miss to go down to A&M.

Koon ur just asking for lots of sec teams to have 1 loss with that. If u think auburn loses 1 of those then u want them to lose and have 2 losses. I think ole miss loses myself

Well fuck man, tell me your 'best case scenario' for ND then. We got 45 minutes before I need someone to scream at.

I think we would be better off with one or two undefeated teams at the end of the season along with a bunch of two loss teams rather than a ton of one loss teams so Auburn and Baylor winning out may not be bad for us.

I think it's in ND's interest to have every sec team, with the possible exception of a single team, to have at least 2 losses. Despite the argument of "ess eee cee," it will be hard for the selection committee to justify giving a 2-loss, non-conference-championship-game-qualifier a playoff nod over a 1-loss ND team.

Lol ND has to win out period. The sos ev1 was so scured of and trumpeting here doesn't exist anymore. A loss to fsu and win at usc doesn't meant anything now with usc having 2 bad losses
