Anyone hear the announcers on the Michigan game? One of them is breaking ranks, calling it ridiculous that "we always talk about how strong the SEC is when a top ranked team loses in conference, but how weak the PAC12 is when a top ranked team loses in conference." I don't know who he is, but he's losing his job for revealing that SEC dominance is 90% due to ESPN's investment in it and their subsequent spin doctoring.

Wonder if it's Danny Kanell, he was on the radio earlier this week making the same point.

Refs just screwed the game clock. How can they restart it after Bama gets a procedure penalty? Horrible

There is no way Bama should be ranked #7. They just aren't that good.

Totally agree. Same could be said about a few other teams that are ranked high, too. A&M, Sparty, ND and Oklahoma aren't as good as their ranking would indicate either, IMO. Crazy year so far, and we're only in mid-October.

In my mind MSU>> Ole Miss.

MSU offense is better. Ole Miss defense is better. And I think Freeze is a better game coach than Mullins. Both QBs look good at times and bad at times. If I had to choose right now, I would go with the better defense and Ole Miss.

'Bama is not jumping ahead of ND. They put up 14 and barely beat an average Arkansas team.

But that Arkansas team is average in the SEC. They'd blow our doors off because they play in the SEC. They'd win the B1G, PAC, and ACC in the same season if given the chance. They'd beat the Super Bowl loser and give the winner a game. They'd kick the ass of an all star team made entirely of Jaylon Smiths. The average of the SEC is like ten levels above the winners of every other conference and it's not close.

LOL...

the SEC Envy on this board is laughable at times.

Arkansas is another year away from being a pretty good football team. Much improved, but still needs to learn to win under Bret.

What I think will happen:
1. Miss St.
2. Ole Miss
3. FSU
4. Baylor
5. Notre Dame

What I think should happen:
1. Miss St.
2. Ole Miss
3. FSU
4. Notre Dame
5. Baylor

I am content being a top 5 team at this point. Beat FSU and we control our own destiny. If we don't beat them then hey maybe we don't belong in the conversation for the playoffs at the moment anyway.

While I don't think Alabama would actually jump us, I lived in SEC country for 8 years and crap like the idea that middling SEC teams would dominate other conferences was quite pervasive. I had an UGA fan tell me that the 2012 ND team would have finished 4-8 in the SEC and that Vanderbilt would have probably won the B1G or the Big 12. Several people agreed with that assessment. Thus began a lifelong hatred of UGA.

That's not to say that anyone in the media thinks like that or will use beating Arky as an excuse to have 'Bama jump us. Though the thought probably tempts some.

Yep. If we beat FSU, we're in the top three and control our destiny. If we lose, we'll need some breaks to make the playoff. That's OK.

And, yeah, I'd still bet on two SEC teams making it. Probably the best team from Mississippi and the best from Alabama.

If I learned anything tonight it's that I feel very validated in my disdain for preseason rankings. They keep saying Miss St has 3 straight top 10 wins. But those came against LSU (unranked, will probably jump back in after beating Florida), Texas A&M (I think should be low 20s if not unranked. Only good win is against a mediocre at best South Carolina team that lost to Kentucky), and Auburn. They deserve credit for beating Auburn for sure. But the other two are not really top 10 wins and only are considered so because of dumbass preseason rankings. Doesn't mean they aren't good wins, just really annoying as it's easy fodder for the SEC-obsessed among us.

OU seemed to have their hands full. I didn't see the game just the highlights.

My genuine hope is that the selection committee ignores wholly the preseason ranking and looks at the body of work up until their poll is released. That being said, Miss St can beat anybody this year. I believe that.

Yep. Texas whipped them in quarters 1, 2, and 4, and had their usual sh!t show performance in the 3rd quarter. OU had something like 29 yards of offense in the 1st half, but led due to a pick-6 and a KO return for a TD. They converted their first 3rd down conversion with about 2 mins left in the game, to essentially seal the victory.

I think a lot of teams are overrated. Bama, first and foremost, is incredibly overrated. One of the two most overrated teams in the country. I have no problem admitting that. Very, very talented, but they don't look very good at all. Being top 7 is laughable right now. It really, really is. Oklahoma hasn't impressed me at all. I'm not sure if they deserve their ranking. Don't know if they're truly top 10 team...YET. ND doesn't look like a top 5-6 team at all. Not even close. The Stanford win doesn't look as good as many thought. Like Bama, I doubt they can blowout a highly ranked team. All 3 teams looked AWFUL yesterday. I think Baylor and Auburn would blow out all of them. Aside from Mississippi State, FSU and Ole Miss, I haven't really been impressed with anybody. Oregon did rebound quite nicely, though.
