I still think there was a great QB in there somewhere that (shocker) ND just couldn't develop.

In hindsight, I think nd had enough in backup talent with Angeli to just roll with Buchner over Hartman and Leonard. I think Buchner was just too sloppy with the ball for Freeman. Hartman and Leonard haven’t been much better. Could’ve save a couple of million dollars as well. It’s been one disappointment after the other since the South Carolina bowl game win

The problem is if we rolled with Buchner instead of Hartman and Leonard is, with how Buchner plays he would have likely got hurt and we would have had to go with Angeli for the bowl game last year and likely would be looking at Angeli starting at Purdue.

Oh wait... yeah... we should have stuck with Buchner.

FWIW Hartman didn't throw a pick until his seventh game last year. He had two rough games (Louisville, and Clemson, tho IIRC his second pick there was a last-drive forced throw). And he had other limitations like being a surprisingly weak downfield passer. But he took care of the ball a lot better than we've seen Buchner and Leonard do.

Either way, right or wrong, there would've been riots if they hadn't brought in a top transfer after the Pyne/Buchner Experience. Maybe this year we didn't need Leonard. But hindsight is 20/20.

Overall Tyler just wasn’t playoff material. Could he have won the same games as Sam did? Yes but so could have Drew Pyne. Drew or Tyler could have put up more than 14 points last week.

It was almost the same game to be honest defense couldn't stop the run and a quarterback played terrible and missed many open looks. Both even had shoulder injuries

Isn't he the holder for kicks? If so, must've been his fault for the two misses last weekend...;)

He’s thrown a lot more touchdowns for ND than RL. So has Angeli. Hell, even Carr has more TD’s wearing a ND uniform (spring game). RL is the only QB on the roster that may never throw a TD for ND.

There is no fucking way CJ Carr, Minchey, or Angeli lose that game to NIU. All they had to do was more than nothing.

Doesn’t Buchner still have more int’s than TDs over his career?

ND needed Hartman last season and I don't think it would've worked out with the Pyne/Buchner experience, I was never impressed with Buchner at all. Nice story that Buchner came back to ND. After Rees left that put Hartman in a bad situation, with Hartman this season & with what Leonard has we 100% beat NIU.

I think that ND could've passed on Leonard for this season, at some point ND needs to develop what they currently have, and I think if they would've gone with Angeli we would be 2-0. You still bring in Denbrock and get what you need in the portal minus the QB.

What Leonard has vs what Hartman had, Leonard should be winning.

I agree Hartman took care off the ball better than Buchner and Leonard, he looked confident, and he could pass the ball. This year's WR's are better than last seasons.

You had me until Marshall.

I think we score more points with TB playing against NIU, but they probably do too with the multiple pick 6's.
I also think this NIU team beats the pants off Marshall.
Remember the Leonard throw against A&M that would've been a pick six for the bad guys if Jayden Thomas doesn't wrestle it out of the DB's hands? Eerily similar to the one Buchner threw against Marshall. Same WR even.
