Im just wondering for those who really want field turf, and those who want to keep grass (not sure how many are out there) but wouldnt the hybrid stuff be a perfect compromise, honestly just wondering, if we get field turf that is fine, wouldnt feak out about it at all.

I don't get why everybody doesn't have the hybrid stuff? Really the Packers have had that for like 10 yrs, I don't think there is anything wrong with it? Soldier Field rips up in clumps after mid October, why they wouldn't want that stuff??

my feeling is that a jumbotron doesnt have to be monsterous, just be able to do a little pump up video intro and show replays, im down with that

only problem with soldier, is that the chicago park pistrict owns it so its on them to change it, the ? remains the same though, why they haven't changed it ill never know

Seriously old timers, its time for field turf or hybrid-Golson, Bryant, GA!!! need a speedy track-get with the times.
We need a jumbotron more, go to a Michigan game its awesome, replays, old highlights, and gets the crowd up. Seriously the ND crowd needs some life and we all know it-just the facts-and the players love it-lets GET WITH THE TIMES!!!!!

Honest question... is there a single team in America that has a jumbotron that doesn't use it for advertisements?

I may be wrong, but when I was in Ann Arbor for the "Under the Lights" game, I don't remember seeing any ads in the stadium, including on the jumbotrons.

Michigan does it right:

Texas does not:

I don't understand the hate for ads? I think the Texas pic looks cheesy, but I think there are classier ways to advertise and create revenue.

is revenue really an issue for Notre Dame or the football program though? why put ads in if you dont have to?

What if the money was used to feed starving children or house orphans?

Next thing you know Tom Hammond is saying, "You are looking live into gorgeous Preparation H Stadium, where the Irish will soon engage in an epic battle with the Purdue Boilermakers on hallowed Charlie Weis Field."

Michigan does not do ads. MSU does.

I personally don't like the UM jumbotrons. I drive by them every day. They do not mesh with the stadium at all. They are just four big steel pipes sticking out of the ground. If you get an aerial view, it just doesn't look right.

When I was at the Navy-ND game 2010 at the Meadowlands I don't believe I saw any ads either.

That's what everybody thought for years but its actually the Bears who didn't want field turf because they said statistically more players get hurt on it. The Park District actually wanted turf and hates replacing the sod constantly during the season.

It may look weird from the aerial view, but the purpose of the jumbotron is not to take a picture from a blimp.

Jack said the field is under review this off season I believe. We should have an answer soon enough.

Football is a game to be played on grass period. Just leave a great stadium be and get the team better.

I agree with ND getting both, field turf and the jumbotron, but if it's one of the other then I think the ND "NEEDS" field turf more.

For what it is worth the youth organization I coach and am on the board at uses Chicago Park District facalities. I can tell you don't count on the CPD to get anything right. Our local park supervisor is great guy but any time CPD contractors are supposed to come in and get some work done on fields and such it is an epic failure almost everytime. To say the least I'm not very high on the Chicago Park District.

Not that this has anything to do with Notre Dame getting field turf. I personally don't care either way. Field turf or grass no difference for me.

Now would be a good time to announce renovations. Give Manti his 15 mins today, announce shortly thereafter. I think if they hype it up, it could change the conversation
