I wasn't trying to make u look bad at all, im just always aware of the playing surfaces because even though im younger I respect teams that use natural grass, as far as the cali teams their's look so good because there is virtualy no bad weather to deal with the rose bowl and colliseum look immaculate lol

Saying you want turf is not the same as saying you want field turf or artificial turf. Turf = grass. I think that's where you are getting confused on which stadiums have grass or field turf.

yes thankyou when i here the turf is bad i think grass, when i hear field turf then that means artificial

It's all good. Bad info usually gets weeded out on this site. After the season I was just thinking about our offensive production away v. home, and was kind of under the assumption that most of the places we played had artificial turf, thus I had preconceived notions about my theory.

I still want artificial turf, and I strongly believe that this will be the next change to the stadium, even before a 'tron.

Soldier Field is grass not field turf. It used to be artifial turf back at one point in fact back when they won the Super Bowl it was artifical.

I already knew it was grass or if you will sod. Just to make sure I texted a contact that works for the Chicago Park District and he has confirmed this for me. Soldier Field is grass.

Oh for sure our offensive production at home vs. the road was very odd and that would be an easy assumption to make, must have just been a strange year at home. Personally I love grass fields but I wouldnt freak out if we got it, I know it has been said before and even though I hate green bay what they have is pretty nice, its a grass field turf hybrid type, that would be my pick.

How could you hate Green Bay?

True dat. It doesn't do anything, and you're actually not even allowed to give it to anyone else. If you try, it immediately becomes property of the Packers.

the plan is:
modernizing inside and all the stories/areas of the press box
add suites (they want a ring around upper bowl of stadium consisting of suites if the price is right to do it--huge structural and financial undertaking)
video baord(s) (they wont/dont call them jumbotrons out there) would be part of all the above. they wont just throw boards up in the interim while al this other stuff gets worked out-they will be part of it.
in short the priority is the stadium and facilities and the video board(s) are a "small piece" in terms of the big picture in all this.

How in the Hell are they going to be able to afford 800 million?

Boxing, UFC, NCAA tournament games would do very well there.

Hell you could do all sorts of Olympic trials and national championships for "nonrevenue" sports and national high school competition. It's only a ~38,000-seat stadium, so it's small enough to hold events, unlike a ~80,000-seater.

I want both. Ithink Notre Dame is the pinical of college football, it's time our stadium matches our pedigree. I want it to keep the historic feel though. It's time to build and add new traditions.

The jumbotron won't be a bad idea as long as they don't use it for a source of revenue.

MSU does this. I went to the game this year - they have a banner/'tron where they display ads. It's pretty tasteless.

Holy crap, you could see that banner around the stadium refelct off our helmets all game, frustrating to watch on TV

Im just wondering for those who really want field turf, and those who want to keep grass (not sure how many are out there) but wouldnt the hybrid stuff be a perfect compromise, honestly just wondering, if we get field turf that is fine, wouldnt feak out about it at all.

Honest question... is there a single team in America that has a jumbotron that doesn't use it for advertisements?
