Everyone needs to work on the deficit but nobody wants to cut anything b/c maybe its the next penicillin? You equivocated to say exactly nothing.

My point was simply that the tweet is so obviously salacious and misleading that it made me reflexively want to distrust it and ask questions despite my likely agreeing with it. It was a critique about the presentation treating me like a simpleton, not saying that I agree with spending money on foreign studies of cats. There might be better information behind the link, but it's paywalled, so the info in the tweet is all I have.

"Some of" and "a portion of" are doing a lot of heavy lifting with those numbers. I'd be interested to see how much was actually put toward those studies, rather than just saying the total amount of the whole grant that helped fund them.

I don't like government spending but man I'm so tired of obvious misinformation being rubbed in my nose like I'm an idiot who isn't going think about anything once I see a picture of an Orangutan in lab equipment.

Looks like Biden killed that study with an executive order last year. Surely RDU will give him the props he deserves lol.

Nice find. Props to the Biden admin. Now if we can all agree the people responsible for approving that in the first place should be fired from the NIH we might be on to something.

Reading a commentary on CNN, I thought this excerpt was interesting.

But Bragg, unwilling to let Trump off the hook easily, is hinging his case on the allegation that this misdemeanor offense was in service of a violation of federal campaign finance laws. The Federal Election Commission opted not to charge Trump with a violation of election law on this front, with two Republican commissioners noting that Cohen had already pleaded guilty in relation to the alleged violation, and further government action “was not the best use of resources.”

Another problem, as National Review’s Andrew McCarthy has pointed out, is that Bragg, a state prosecutor, is seeking to enforce a federal statute, bringing this case against an offense “that the feds themselves did not believe Trump committed, and that Bragg is politically engineering into a new election law of his very own.”

They highlight something else in that article that's interesting: Trump is such a polarizing figure it's difficult to find an impartial jury. They mention one person that was selected, only to have them struck later because social media posts were found where the juror called to "Lock him up" and "Get him out." I wouldn't want to be the one having to select those jurors.

From all that I've read, it's likely that he's found guilty in the New York case initially with a decent chance that it would get overturned on appeal because of the issues that arise from the use of the "creative" legal arguments trying to tie the State crimes with the Federal campaign finance laws.

Looks like NY was counting on the Feds to prosecute, but had to get creative once they saw the Feds weren't going to jump in. Let's say he's found guilty and it gets overturned because it's a state and not a federal crime, can they try him again as state charges?

I could certainly be wrong, but I believe the answer is No. They would be misdemeanors under State law with a statute of limitations of only 2 years. Long expired. They had to tie it to the Federal Election laws to make it a felony to get around the statute of limitations issue.

The funniest parts of this:
1. Trump made an executive order to ban TikTok when he was President, Biden has done no such thing
2. It is bipartisan Congressional action to make the CCP divest in TikTok for reasons so obvious that you can get Democrats and Republicans to agree on an issue
3. Trump only changed his opinion after TikTok investor Jeff Yass gave him billions of reasons to

It pains me to no end that the only alternative to Biden is this guy.

Maybe he sees TikTok as an opportunity to counter Facebook's social media onslaught against him. I think Zuck is pissed Trump used Facebook so effectively in 2016 right under his nose and that apparatus has since been "fixed".

Most likely it is just Trump pandering to youth.

This is how I see it, extremely shallow "don't vote for Biden he took away the psyop app you were all addicted to!"

Unrelated, here is a nominee we could've had who just gets shit done and offers solutions:

Yeah but he wears lifted boots b/c he is short and smiles awkwardly. Best solution would have been DeSantis to position as VP from the start with the well broadcast strategy of being Trump's "operator" who gets shit done. Trumps biggest weakness is his vanity and he has been blindsided 100 times by swamp hacks who feigned "loyalty" only to undermine good policy. By the end of four years DeSantis is accepted as the man really running shit and we get eight more years to benefit from good policy. Unfortunately I do not ever see DeSantis getting elected POTUS on his own.

Step one in this Columbia mess - deport any non-citizens taking part in these actions, or any other chaos events (blocking roads, riots, etc). If you are a guest in our country - maybe try acting like one?

This is really odd. It's like the jab all over again. Trump was in favor of banning it while he was in office, now that the office has switched he's attacking the Biden regime over doing the same thing. I guess they expect us to have short memories?

It's not odd. He's preying on the stupidity of his base.
I mean, yeah, but it's the whole reversal thing I'm pointing out. Same thing happened with the jab, Trump was pushing it at the end of the last cycle while Democrats during their primary were saying they wouldn't trust it. Once Democrats were in office they flipped sides and started pushing the jab and suddenly Republicans didn't trust it. It's sad how easily the public is manipulated.

Bobby told me this was impossible?

Seems like a Giant Douche versus Turd Sandwich problem. Looking at Turd Sandwich for 3 years makes you wish for those Giant Douche years but as Giant Douche campaigns you get reminded just how much you hate that mfer too. The goal is minimize turnout to optimize the 'harvest".

His campaign organization was a complete dumpster fire and his greatest accomplishment was being able to say the word "woke" 24 times in a thirty second span.
And despite all that somehow would have probably been an upgrade over the current two candidates

I've thought from the start he's Scott Walker with military service and Ivy League degrees. His flop of a campaign didn't fall entirely short of my own expectations of him.

He's 45 years old, a Bronze Star recipient with two Ivy League degrees and served in the US House. On paper, it's all there, but all of that stuff is "establishment" for some. We're living in far different times than ever before.

Once I get past what's on paper, he opens his mouth and I'm typically "no thank you" more often than not. Every other word was woke.

Based on the brief information provided I don't think they necessarily were coordinating it, but they were certainly aware of the process based on the documents.
