In the 49 states outside of California plus the District of Columbia Trump has a 1.7 million popular vote plurality over Clinton.

Can you imagine the meltdown if Trump actually GAINS votes in the Electoral College, today?

I cannot speak for anyone but myself.

I have not heard Hillary complain about the Electoral College; I have only heard her complain about unprecedented (workin' the word!) interference by the FBI and director, and the hackers whom everyone knowledgeable is certain are Russian. If I were her I would have complained about the Trump campaign's incessant lying, and incredible, shameless promotion of false news. But that's me.

BGIF, parsing vote totals the way you did there, what are you saying? You want to eliminate California and DC? I mean, what the fuck? That whole point, isn't it? People are complaining about the pencil-necked communists that want one vote to equal one vote anywhere, isn't it? Who then cares how you parse it.

The reason all politicians are crooks is that they need inconsistencies like this to gain, and maintain, power and control.

Folks will never be in control of their government until they learn the following :
1) Someone with opposing views is just as valuable a neighbor and fellow citizen as those that agree with you, and the world won't end if their party gets in;
2) All governing districts should be designed by computer modeling based upon census data, and geographic location, and overseen by non partisan management;
3) The two party oligarchy is a huge limitation to running robust elections, and probably the main reason 'we are all disenchanted with the choices' every cycle. If we are going to keep two primarily worthless parties, different qualification, nomination, and selection processes should be instituted by popular mandate, (for instance, have VP candidates run separately from the top of the ticket, or select the VP as the second place vote getter in the Presidential race);
4) Make voting mandatory, and create a voting holiday. Make it on a weekend if you want, because there is no reason it need be on the first Tuesday, after the first Monday in November.
5) Eliminate conventions. Give the money a better cause. Feed the poor. Or give it to me.
6) Penalize candidates for lying, or falsifying information. All candidates should have to file a legal affidavit, response answers to a standard questionnaire, and after investigation is complete, those candidates should be legally and criminally responsible for their results. Likewise, if a candidate lies about an opponent, or their own record, they should be publically censured. (Don't say that nobody would run for office, etc. We would have better, more ethical candidates regularly, immediately.)
7) Ban anyone who has been in elected office for more that say six years, or two terms, from ever working as a lobbyist. Don't put up term limits. Just take the big bucks out of it for career politicians. If someone gets elected as a 538, then wants to take big bucks for bribing peers, let them. Just limit the time they can stay in office before they turn to a life of crime.

As far as my complaints, I am just amazed at how idiotic the idea of putting a hot mess in the Whitehouse, to 'fix' the problems in Washington is, when Congress, which nearly everyone hates, and sees as the bad guy, gets rewarded, and encouraged to screw things up worse. My complaint is akin to seeing someone I care about repeat the same mistake over and over, all the while they are getting the shit absolutely kicked out of them, confident that everything will be different because they made an irrelevant, albeit disastrous change, without dealing with the real problem.

Kind of like a woman I knew that got breast implants to keep her husband from kicking the shit out of her.

Incessant lying.... you just described both candidates.....
Eliminate CA and DC... not a bad idea. Toss in NY too and I'd be a happy man.

I love all of these. Especially 4

Problem with the above, electing Hilary would akin to making the same decision thinking that things would change without dealing with the real problem. Neither party looks at the other as a valuable neighbor with differing opinions that need to be heard. Lose lose situation. I'm no Trump fan, but I'll take a chance on something different. DC needs a shake up. Even a bad 4 years might wake both parties up. Or not. Either way, I'm not all that concerned about Trump screwing things up. Things are already F'd up. Too many Chicken Littles out there.

As opposed to the unprecedented collusion between the DNC and major media outlets that garnered her the nomination in the first place? Or the unprecedented meeting between the AG and the husband of a subject of an FBI investigation on an airport tarmac? I wonder how many of those emails that the Russians hacked came from some server in the basement of a mansion in Westchester County, NY? You know, that server that couldn't possibly have compromised US Diplomatic intelligence information?

If I were her I would have complained about the Trump campaign's incessant lying, and incredible, shameless promotion of false news. But that's me.

You mean like Trump's claim that he landed at an airport under sniper fire? Or maybe his claim that he did NOT send or received classified information on his personal email server?

I'm glad you brought up the "false news" angle......... because I can't think of any significant "false news" stories that affected my views in this election. What "false news" stories do you allege that Trump and/or his campaign incredibly and shamelessly promoted?

Also, do you see the irony in saying that "HRC hasn't complained, herself, about the Electoral College, but then qualifying the accusation against Trump about promoting false news with "the Trump campaign".

BGIF, parsing vote totals the way you did there, what are you saying? You want to eliminate California and DC? I mean, what the fuck? That whole point, isn't it? I can't speak for BGIF, but it sure seems to me as if he is saying that it's not like Clinton won the popular in many areas of the country, and that that invalidates Trump win. And that's EXACTLY what liberals all around the country are trying to insinuate.

Thoughts or info on any of these Electors in your state?

Love the description behind a Missouri Elector.

List of United States presidential electors, 2016

I wonder who nominated Christine Pelosi from Calif and William J. Clinton, NY? Pam Bondi, Fl is the Attorney General of Fla who accepted a fundraising contribution from Donald Trump while she was investigating 22 counts of fraud against Trump University.

You won't believe what he has planned for Lebensraum.

Le·bens·raum
/ˈlābənsˌroum,-bənz-/

the territory that a state or nation believes is needed for its natural development, especially associated with Nazi Germany.

That's easy, wherever in the world there are oil and coal reserves.

Oh and don't forget golf courses, especially ones with great ocean views.

Don't worry about coal. We got enough in ND to keep the oven warm for a very long time.

Sounds a lot like manifest destiny.

That's pretty much what it was.

Germany, having been founded in 1871, literally missed the boat on obtaining a colonial empire on par with Britain, France, and Spain. Germany had to settle for leftovers from the Scramble for Africa and some minor spheres of influence in China. Simply put, it had no ability to become a global power by claiming foreign lands.

And there wasn't much of an interest in conquering Europeans for the sake of subjugating them. Much of Hitler's racist worldview came from looking at the flaws of Germany's allies in World War I. Whereas nations like France and Russia were predominantly French and Slavic, Austria-Hungary and the Ottomans were very multi-cultural and the rise of nationalism made them domestically weak in that time period. Hitler felt strongly that a homogeneous state was stronger than a diverse state.

Lastly he considered the Slavs to be inferior, even expendable. Add it all up and Lebensraum was basically looking at the two global powers who simply carved out a continent for their betterment, the United States and Russia, and aimed to do that to Eastern Europe. Exterminate all Jews and Slavs in the great plains of Ukraine/Belorussia/Poland/Lithuania and resettle Germans in an effort to create a Germany that didn't need colonies because it stretched from the Rhine to the Caspian Sea.

This is the democratic argument in a tweet/video for 2016.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Hey, white guys: we came up for some New Year's Resolutions for you. <a href="https://t.co/C9EeIY6wig">pic.twitter.com/C9EeIY6wig</a></p>— MTV News (@MTVNews) <a href="https://twitter.com/MTVNews/status/810960588973035520">December 19, 2016</a></blockquote>

Now, why would democrats struggle with white guys?

It must be that us white guys are racists and misogynists and other forms of phobe or ist.

Now some of the delusional will show a confederate flag at a Trump rally and try to paint it as mainstream Trump America, but that is complete crap. Yes, these people exist and it does happen. But this MTV video on a major network is exactly how the left has painted white guys for years.

Why wouldn't white guys just jump in line? Must be a whitelash!

If you don't think this is racist, then imagine a bunch of white guys making a video on CMT about how minorities could be less annoying in 2017. I'm sure that would go over well.

...Dear lord I hope the obsession with defeating Trump can be put to bed now.

He will be sworn in...he will be president, just like we all knew he would on election night.

The bigger issue is, will Democrats run Mrs. Clinton again in 4 years.

The even bigger issue is...will we continue to let the big two political parties run us. Some things need to happen:
1) PLEASE give Johnson a Pot farm and get him the hell out of party leadership. How Libertarians stepped on it this bad is just incompetence. Convince Mike Lee to lead the party or someone credible.
3)The independants...where the hell were they...UTAH? Recruit a person like Condi Rice or even Joe Biden and make a real run.
2) Thank Jill Stein for the fund raising maneuver, and make her turn the money over to the party, and get someone serious. Where the hell is Al Gore. He'd at least make the Green Party credible.

Across the entire panel of people from ALL parties, NO ONE was impressive...no one "presidential". Gotta have real choice.

Question for Dems:

In a way too early take, list a few people you woul like to see run for your nomination for 2020. You could also list who you think will run as those lists tend to be very different from who does for both parties.

If Trump somehow stepped aside

Republican:
Kasich/Hunstman...Either could top the ticket

Democrat:
Biden/Kaine

Independant:
Chafee/McMullen

Green:
Gore/???

Libertarian
Lee/McDermitt

Didn't you hear? Nothing is racist when it's directed towards white men.

MTV News, exactly the place I go for unbiased, thought provoking information  I guess they have their target market.

Yup, lets keep belittling white men and telling them what a crappy people they are. We'll get them to our side eventually with our name calling.

By the way, there are some amusing comments in that video. I don't think they achieved the response they were looking for.

Reps.

This might well be the reality for these folks...might I suggest you...I don't know...MOVE!

Otherwise, you must take for "real" what some "ist" on TV is telling you to spin you up, and get your money/vote. If you believe the "real" world is that which is delivered to you on TV...you gotta be an idiot, so moving won't help your dumb ass. I suggest you turn off all sources of media for 3 months, and go out in the real world.

If you still see the world in terms that allow you to resonate with MTV news...apply for a job with them, because you are beyond saving, and I don't want to pay to support your bitter self-destructive ass.

Edit...you being they...not you drayer.

That video was a pathetic. But what else should you expect from a channel designed for the "soft decade". I have always said that social media/personal blogs would be bad. Looks like I was right.
