I always like talking with people about different travels they've taken. So how well traveled are IE members? Where has everyone gone? (For vacation, work, military, etc everything counts!)

I've traveled to Costa Rica, Mexico (more times than I can count), Bahamas, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, England, France, Australia and New Zealand (currently here for the second time).

Travelling is probably my second favorite thing.

All the tropical places I've been were vacations. And my family has a beach-condo in Florida that is the main spring break spot.

England and France were for college. (Best 3 credits ever)

My current New Zealand stint is my semester abroad. (Friendliest people on the planet)

When I graduate college next spring I get to go on a first-class trip with my grandpa, haven't decided yet where to go.

Next on my travel to-do list is a Route 66 road trip.

Sadly, I've only been to Canada a couple times and Puerto Rico once. Prettiest place I've been was Hawaii but not sure that counts since its still in the U.S.

Puerto Rico was for a church mission trip back when I was in high school. Beautiful Island but I didn't get to see much of it because I was working on building a house.

Went to Toronto for vacation when i was younger and got to go the hockey hall of fame which was awesome. Touched the real Stanley Cup! Toronto was also an alright city.

The other time my Senior year in high school, my ice hockey team won a silver sticks tournament and got to go complete for the finals in a small town just north of Grand Rapids. We surprised people up there by beating a few teams while being from Tennessee. It was fun listening to the Canadian coaches berate their players for losing to a bunch of Southerners.

On my list for the future:

Brazil

New Zealand

To do New Zealand right:

1.) Rent a car

2.) Give yourself AT LEAST 2 weeks. (You will be busy everyday but won't see anywhere close to everything.)

3.) If you are an adrenalin junkie spend at least 4 days in Queenstown (can do anything ridiculous you can think of there)

I love to travel. I haven't really been out of the country besides Mexico a few times. I plan on skiing the Swiss Alps. I have been to Hawaii and damn near every other state. Work sends me to California every month for 3 weeks at a time, so I get to see all of that "country". Somewhere I had never been before this so I am making as much of it as I can.

I have been to Indiana if that counts haha. I have never been south of Delaware, north of Maine, and West of Illinois. I was supposed to go to Italy for two weeks this summer but that trip got canceled. In college I am definitely going to do a semester abroad to Italy and since travel is so inexpensive over there I hope to see a few other countries in Europe.

I'm obviously not as well-traveled, but have been to Alaska, the Bahamas and Germany when it was still two Germanys, which was amazing. Spent 6 hours in East Berlin. To be able to visit a real communist country and see how things really are there makes me want to punch people in the face who scream this country is a facist country.

The summer after I graduated from ND, four of us got on a retrofitted Dutch government military ship [with about 60-70 other college kids] and set sail for Europe. At that ancient time, sailing on a "college ship" was by far the cheapest conventional way to go. The Atlantic crossing was eight days. We landed in Rotterdam, were taken by the trip providers to Amsterdam, rented a Volkswagen bug, and went off to "circle" western Europe. With bad initial planning, we had to sleep in or under the bug that first night just east of the great dike that holds back the sea. We bought tent equipment the next day, and then camped around Europe for 50 days.

We managed to get through Soviet checkpoints [with very grim looking guards brandishing automatic weapons] and drive across to Berlin [the wall still very intact]. Then it was back out, down the Rhine, visiting several castles, to Munich, Vienna, Austrian Alps, Venice, Assisi, Rome [5 days], Vatican with a mass with Pope John 23rd --- one of my buddies was going into the priesthood and had contacts, Herculaneum, Naples, Pisa, Florence, Italian Riviera [we had a friend], Monaco, Barcelona, Carcassone, Andorra, The Cro-Magnon painted Lascaux caves [turned out we were in the last tourist season allowing you into the real ones], Lourdes, Paris [5 days], including Notre Dame and the Louvre, of course, London [5days], Stonehenge [I insisted], Brussels, Rotterdam and back home. LOTS happened and it was a great mind-expander to the world outside.

Since then I've been privileged to return to many of those places, plus Ireland, Scotland, [looked for the Loch Ness Monster but no luck --- did meet all the guys who "professionally" try, though], Mexico, especially the pyramid ruins, and the main Mayan sites, and Guadeloupe, Egypt, Peru, including Macchu Picchu and the Plain of Nazca, and the Amazon. and Ecuador and the Galapagos. Through all of that, not to slight Canada's wonderful stuff nor our own, I've never had a bad trip. It's been wonderful and blessed, but now this old body can't go anymore --- but that's OK; I've seen as much as anyone "has a right to" as it is.
