Lol you don’t need to be a recruiter to be OC at Bama you think Bill O’Brien was going into recruits living rooms and winning over parents with his sparkling personality?

Joe Brady would be dope, if only because you know it's almost certainly a one-year rental, and if you're taking a one-year flyer on a guy and hoping for lightning-in-a-bottle, of course it should be the dude that elevated Joe Burrow's passing game, hoping he can do the same for Hartman in just one season.

Then you have an actual FULL hiring cycle next year to make another hire.

Actually not a bad idea... A 1-year rental multiplier!!! He's getting a lot of NFL OC interest right now but who knows... Joe Brady is Receiving Interest for Offensive Coordinator Jobs

That article says Tommy to Bama is a done deal?

Yes, but no…

If you go to the actual site (it’s the USA Today’s ND writer) there is zero mention of it anywhere, just the offer.

I love how CFB rag writers immediately put these ...Top X potential candidate to replace Y the minute coach exit rumor mill starts. And we all click the bait immediately! :ROFLMAO:

If MF doesn't work out... Does Tommy with 3 years of OC experience under Saban jump to the top of the list of replacements?

100% it's a lateral move. It's not a NFL OC or QB job. It's no different than Elko taking the DC job at A&M. We may not be as good as Bama, but we're college blue blood royalty. This is a lateral move.

Sure we're blue bloods but ND is not on the same level as bama right now and working under Saban has a value that is difficult to assess but real.

Just one man's opinion.

Freeman showed some chops this season. There’s no way he’s blindsided by this and likely has a short list of candidates. Will he get to call his shot?

Where are all the people who didn't want Tommy as OC? Who said he wasn't in the upper tier of OCs? Now Bama is working to take him and they usually have their pick amongst top candidates.

Why do you think they zeroed in on TR? You think they are fooled by **madeup arguments**?

The reason Tommy Rees is being poached by Bama is because he maximizes the players he has. He's on a quickly elevating path and you poor schmucks didn't even get to appreciate him while he was here.

He sucked. He lost us two games. His play calling was so conservative this year. Glad you love him.

Gerad Parker is on the short list, but losing Rees (QB Coach) and replacing him with Parker (TE Coach) leaves you in a bad spot.

Either your OC will be coaching TE's (aka having them split practice between the OL and WR's), or your OC will be coaching QB's, which he's never done.

I think you NEED to go after an OC that is a legit QB coach.

Wasn‘t it rumored that TR was sorta unhappy about the Parker hire? Maybe it was more about letting go of the former TE coach?

He deserves 100% autonomy in the process, and should only be bound by the amount of money they are willing to offer (which is an insult to MF if its one penny less than Bamas offer to TR if ND matched), and the trust he isn’t hiring some stooge that has a track record of doing dumb shit off the clock.

I thought it was because he didn't get much say in the matter, as it was MFMF hiring one of his old friends that was also looking for a new gig.

Probably didn't *help* that parker was a former OC, so maybe Tommy thought MFMF was already bringing in an insurance policy, but things have been okay, and it seems the TE's have developed well under Parker (anyone would have looked good coaching Mayer, but Raridon and Staes both being game-ready early in the year is good shit).

Correct. Joey Lynch from Vanderbilt really intrigues me.

I don't know enough about Parker, but I know I would not be excited if he became OC.

I would actually prefer a OC to be TE coach. Get a GA to coach TEs like Laurinaitis handled LBs for Golden, except he could get help from the WR coach for receiving stuff and the OL coach for blocking stuff.

Prister said that Parker wouldn't be a candidate FWIW

Right here is one! Glad he will be gone! I will not relive last season and break down the issues I had, but in general I am VERY HAPPY! I do wish him the best! I have waited for this to happen and continually checked this thread hoping it would happen. Not quite there yet.

Why Lynch?

No knock on him. I actually know him and he's a good guy. Curious what your take is

Fun fact that no one cares about while I'm talking about him:

My freshman year in high school, I wasn't good enough to make the travel squad for varsity playoff games... so I volunteered to be an equipment manager through the playoffs, so I could be at the games with the team anyway. Team bus, team meal, team travel schedule were all better than the arrangements the school made for the student section, so it was a no-brainer.

The first game I played water boy for? Against Raceland (KY) High School, where Gerad Parker was on the opposite sideline coaching WR's/DB's. Small-ish world for this Notre Dame internet message board loser!
