I don't think the guy knows how to do anything else. Plus, his control freak wife is probably only interested in being married to the greatest active player of all time; not the greatest retired player of all time. It's not about money at this point, it's all about status.

That may not be too far from the truth. Certainly common. When my dad retired, it took about 3 months of him "helping my mom with advice about how to run the house" before she told him to go buy a small farm, a bulldozer, and get the hell out of her house every day and go play. They were both MUCH happier after that.
