I'm inclined to blame a bad ad that's currently in circulation on this site. When IE is slow to load for me, I refresh it, and it almost always comes up immediately; probably because I'm getting a different ad.

Whenever I type, after about 4 or 5 lines my whole message gets deleted. Its pretty frustrating. I prob have some sort of virus b/c my virus scan subscription ran out I have been too lazy to renew. I am waiting for this whole message to delete as I type....It only occurs on this site.
I dont know if I am hitting some sort of key combination which erases everything...
Additonally, for those Mac Book users, I will be buying a Mac with my next purchase.
If you have Windows, use this:
Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials
I had a virus over the weekend, and this cleared it right up. These are the steps I took:
1. Download & install the program.
2. Do a quick scan
3. After the quick scan ends, reboot the computer in "Safe Mode" (Press the F8 key)
4. Run the program again. This time, do a full scan.
The first time I ran it, it found 1 virus. When I ran it in "Safe Mode" it found 3 more.
Hope this helps you out.
2:05 in Cali and site is still f.uckiing up. Every other site is still lightning quick. I will try your method next. Pain in the ***.
When I posted earlier, I was at work and using IE. Now that I'm at home, I'm using Firefox. I haven't had any issues while at home.
Internet Explorer is bad, mkay! You're asking for malware if you use it.
I don't have a choice.
Figured, since you mentioned "at work". I mentioned it more for the any at-home audience members who are struggling with the site.
I feel you're pain!
Well, not really ... I have a Mac.
You can dump and pee on my lawn all you want, just stay away from my 'puter.

The site has been very slow the past couple of days. When I open a thread and or change pages in a thread the site often hangs.

It's tag.contextweb.com that's causing the issue. Obviously this is where the Ads come from. At times today it's making the site unusable.

Well, since I started this thread, I guess I'll add a follow up. Shortly after my last post last week, my internet access totally shut down. On my end, I don't think it is the ads, since I never click on them, nor this site. I'm pretty sure the severity of my comp trouble was just a coincidence. My internet techs, Dell techs, firewall techs, and other things I tried to solve the problem did not work. I spent over an hour on the phone with my net provider trying to solve it. My audio was also knocked out.
I had to break down and take my chances with a local comp tech. He fixed it for 60 bucks, and for the first time ever, I actually trusted a private tech. lol. The guy will have my business as long as I use a comp. . And still, neither the tech nor anyone I spoke to have a clue as to what caused the problem, but we pretty much isolated the issue to a firewall problem.
I also don't want anyone to think that this site caused any damage. JPham, NDinL.A. and all the mods have always been super and taken care of any issue that comes up, which, other than my over the top posts, rarely occurs.
Just an FYI, ads on some other sites have been known to inject malware. You should not use IE, you should be in FF or Chrome with BOTH Adblock+ and NoScript installed.
Yeah, I usually use FF, and I installed what you recommended. Opera wasn't too bad, but I got used to FF. Too much protection can eat up the comp.
