I actually thought of opening a place like that a few years ago, but didn't really think it would fly. Is that place busy?

Remember how crazy it was with arcade games? I remember watching some dude play PacMan for like a half hour because he had a pattern down. Then Dragon's Lair when it came out was mind blowing. But it was .50 and that was pricey. ;)

I remember when Track and Field came out and you could use a pencil between your fingers to hit both buttons a million times faster.

The wife and I actually have a full size Ms. Pacman machine in our bar room. I am on the hunt for a Zaxxon machine to add to it.

IDK about elsewhere, but here in SC they do not teach cursive writing anymore, at all. Only print. My wife wrote a note to a teenage cousin and the girl could not read it.

They are crazy busy. Even the patio is packed with people playing jumbo sized Jenga in the middle of winter. It's been open a little bit over a year and they have already opened a second location.

I had my 30th birthday party there and passed out on said patio...

Yeah, I think this is something that's going around. People are using computers more and more so it's not being used. I'm not in education, so I can't argue the benefits etc., but I think it's a bad move. I write and when I do first and even second drafts I use a pen and paper to write it out cursive. It gets my brain in tune with what I'm writing and thinking. I don't get that with using a keyboard. I know writers like Craig Clevenger and Richard Ford still write novels in notebooks too. It's probably personal preference though. And as a side, if you like fiction, you need to check out Craig Clevenger.

Compared with inflation, community colleges are still very affordable and a great stepping stone into the job market. Not everyone can go to Notre Dame or even any state school. Just my 2 cents on that subject.

Back OT.

Depends on the state. And what do you mean "compared with inflation?" Are you saying that tuition increase percent is less than inflation for junior colleges nationwide? In Nevada JC costs went up 48% this year.

I know there is at least one up in Chicago too and it's doing well as far as I know.

I learned it in third grade and was told that we would have to write in cursive once we reached such-and-such grade. Long story short, we didn't.

In Denver, they have a new bar called "1UP" that is entirely made up of games that cost a quarter. Like Contra, Mike Tyson's Punch Out, pinball, etc. They serve 40's of Colt45 and Mad Dog 20/20. It's right downtown by Coor's field.

So awesome.

I've been trying to convince administrators to replace cursive and spelling with social skills and exercise. (Microsoft Word does both).

It's never caught on...nostalgia and all...

Remember these? Although they probably still have them somewhere. Also, scratch and sniff stickers.

Tecmo Bowl and for that matter, Goldeneye.

In regards to going outside: my dad gave us this rule, if you can't hear his whistle, you've gone to far without them knowing. As long as you heard his whistle, he didn't care where we went.

I'm 25 and still do this all the time. My house butts up to a forest and I go in there all the time to just scout out different areas. You can still do it!!

I learned it in 3rd grade. I abandoned it and reverted back to printing in 4th grade.

I was a total bad @ss on my Dukes of Hazzard Big Wheel!

Sounds a lot creepier when you're doing it at 25...instead of 5 though. :naughty:
