Not an ultimate sandwich but a softshell crab sandwich with a good remulade is pretty dang simple and good.

My father would occasionally (VERY occasionally, thank goodness) make banana sandwiches. Very simple but not all that healthy.

Two slices of Wonder bread, buttered – he liked it rock hard, too hard to spread, so essentially he placed pats of butter, about half a stick – on the bread. Then sliced banana. Then he sprinkled it with a copious amount of refined white sugar.

Ummm ... Yum, Yum?

Also my favorite way to use leftover hot dog buns (especially potato) is to put peanut butter on them, sliced banana and then drizzle chocolate syrup on top.

I better pass on that one. That might give me a heart attack! I do remember as a youngster we would make a butter and sugar on white bread sandwiches. Mom would yell at us for spilling sugar everywhere.

Ate a sandwich at a local place. Pork Loin, French slaw, smoked jalapeños, bacon and apricot jam, on a toasted hoagie. It's good stuff. The owner made a conscious decision to deprive his Cubans of pork loin and use pulled pork because of this sandwich.

Just as a point of reference, Overland Meat Company's Pastrami absolute kills The Hat...

Ok...

Is the Hat good? I went there, ate half my Pastrami, threw the rest of it out then walked across the street to B Dubs and scored some wings.

I then find out it's world famous (?). Why am I struggling with California food? Next thing people are gonna start telling me is CPK is good pizza.

I'm not trying to be difficult, honest.

No Italics.

I don't get B dubs either.

Has anyone mentioned a fried egg sandwich yet? Toast and butter the bread, fry the eggs over easy and add the bacon. May have to start the morning with one before the ASU game.

Not a fan of the food but I love their Mango Habanero sauce and the SoCal location I go to has an incredible variety of California craft beers. Besides that, it's garbagio.

The Hat is average, and you struggle with Cali food because you're a giant douche,... Or a turd sandwich, not sure which, but one of those... ;)

The Hat is just massive amounts of mediocre meat. Was not impressed.

Speaking of SoCal...

The Pastrami and Roast Beef at East Side Deli near downtown is delicious.

Also, Dan's Super Subs in Woodland Hills makes legit pastrami.

OF course, Langers is pretty good, but not as good as the aforementioned.

I also enjoy, Hey That's Amore in Pasadena.

Do yourself a favor and go look at the Yelp pics of these places. My mouth is watering thinking about these samiches.

9 grain bread with shaved boars head chicken (lemon or original ) with swiss cheese and sweet/spicy brown mustard. Its great with a beer or glass of wine. My best restaurant sandwich is anything from the Carnegie Deli in NY

Langer's Deli or The Hat pastrami chili cheese fries...oh yeah the sandwiches aren't too shabby either.

I had Wendy's new pulled pork BBQ sandwich with Smokey sauce today. It comes on a pretzel bun with cole slaw on top. The meat was dry. Don't know if that was because it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while or is the way it normally comes.

Anyone tried the Meat Mountain from Arby's? That's one of the ultimate sandwiches, IMO.

$13.00 for a sandwich is a little pricey if you're not in NY IMO.

True, but I've heard a couple people say this is the only place to get good corned beef outside of Jewish delis in NY. Was that it? Now I can't remember. Love their sandwiches, regardless.
