If anyone is at ND now or has been recently you'll know that Cafe de Grasta has some of the best lunch options anywhere, specifically their chicken wraps. Absolutely delicious chicken, veggies, bacon, pesto-ranch or boom-boom sauce. Really the only must-eat on campus.

You don't get to make up the rules...and you're just jealous because the Penn Station Philly can't be beat.
Besides, it's not the first chain sandwich in this thread.

Actually I was just a little peeved that I didn't think of Penn Station first. Love that place.

 Reps....and now, I'm hungry for Penn Station.

Haha, Penn Stations cheesesteak gave my wife her gall bladder attack years ago. Doctor said it was the third person he operated on in the last couple of weeks who had eaten that sandwich right before their attack. I like PS's, but there's a little dive joint in Indy called Greiners. They make their own bread and their cheesesteak puts Penn Stations to shame. Haven't been there in years, but I know they're still around.

Best sandwich I have ever had is the Pastrami Sandwich from this place:

holiday catering,meat shop,delicatessen,Victorville,Ca.Apple Valley,Ca.

Been voted best deli in So Cal numerous times by numerous entities... the Pastrami (Pictured in the bottom right of the link) is unreal. Place is maybe a mile from my house. They also have numerous hard to get craft beers there too... great place all around.

THAT'S the Media Noche I remember! I recall (though it's been quite a while so there may be some "fog" involved) that the press was flat, not ridged like a panini press.

Yep, flat press. Medianoche is a Cuban on a sweeter bread. The bread's almost identical to cuban bread, but you add eggs and sugar to the mix. It comes out about halfway between normal bread and a pancake and when you press it, it gets the same thin crust you get on a pancake.

My fav sammich is probably a shrimp poboy. Nice juicy fried shrimp with lettuce, and mayo on fresh baked french bread. nothing better

Make mine a roast beef with debris ("DAY-bree") gravy, dill pickles, tomatoes, lettuce and mayo on Dong Phuong banh mi.

If you don't mind breaking away from the traditional po' boys, though, the best sandwich on the planet is the cochon de lait po' boy. It's suckling pig slow roasted in a cooking shed or Cajun microwave and then pulled in sweet hickory BBQ sauce. Dress it just like a roast beef po' boy. It's like pulled pork with way more texture and flavor.

Prosciotto, housemade mozz, olive oil, basil, and tomato from Mastellone's in Baltimore. I like mine with olives.

On my honeymoon in Italy I had a version of this sandwich with tapenade. Holy hell that was great.

This sounds an awful lot like a muffuletta. Ham, salami, Italian bologna (the real stuff, not the nasty thing they sell in groceries), provolone, mozzarella and olive salad (olives, celery, cauliflower, carrots, oregano and garlic diced up and marinated in olive oil) on muffuletta bread (like french bread, but round and soft). They're amazing.

Generally my fav sandwich is a basic Italian sub with loads of vinegar. Jersey Mikes, Quiznos and Subway all do them right to varying degrees. Overland Meat Company, linked above, also make a fantastic sub, but their pastrami is so good that when i go there i usually roll with that.

They're worth it. No problems with my gall bladder to note, and that's eating those cheese steaks probably twice a month religiously. Maybe it's just your local Penn Station

Oooo, I do like Subway's Spicy Italian too...Italian Herbs and Cheese bread, Pepper-jack cheese, toasted, lettuce, onion, tomato, extra red wine vinegar, mayo, mustard, Parmesan. Delicious.

There is also a Korean Cheese Steak joint near me that does typical Philly Cheese Steaks but uses Korean Bulgogi as the meat... easily the best cheese steak I've had...

Damn, all the comments of chain restaurant types... smh lol

Probably take for granted the plethora of sandwich places in a 15 mile radius of me.

NJ/NY will give you the overall, consistent deli experience.

I typically don't care for most cheese steaks. I've tried many different ones from other chains and mom and pop shops, but most places don't seem to put any condiments or pizza sauce on their cheese steaks. it seems that a traditional cheese steak has beef, peppers and onions, and some form of melted cheese whether it be Cheez Whiz or Provolone. Usually these cheese streaks just taste kind of dry to me, like something is missing, so I usually ask for the pizza sauce and/or mayo and mustard to go with it. I'm sure true Philadelphians would turn their nose up at such a notion, but that's the way I like it.

I had never really had a Philly Cheese Steak I liked much, ever, until i had the one I mentioned... I'm with you, just not my thing... These ones made with paper thin Bulgogi are really good... just the usual, onions, peppers, mayo and cheese... I add Tapitio to mine... whole other experience from the average cheese steak.

And even better when allowed to "age" overnight.

No doubt.

One of the times it HAS to be on white bread – with leftover stuffing and mayo.

don't forget to add the canned cranberry sauce AND the candied yams. Love it that way.

I like a little rye bread with jus the turkey and cranberry too--of course with a little mayo.

LOL...........You sound like me!

Come on fellas, Subway? Not even in the same area code as some of these already mentioned.

I will not stand for any knocking of the favorite sandwich of our own Justin Tuck,... and athletes everywhere.

I don't consider Subway sandwiches bad, but I'm always on the lookout for local shops.

  • Beef on weck w/ lots of horseradish.

We can't get kimmelweck in Indiana. Every time someone goes to visit family in the Buffalo area they pick up a load of it. Kimmelweck is a roll with pretzel salt and caraway seeds on top. We slow cook the beef and dip the top of the roll in the juice. I haven't tried horseradish because it is just too good to mess with.

I've never had a Beef on weck sandwich, but have seen them on Triple D and cooking shows... honestly, nothing on them appeals to my normal taste buds, but I'd be willing to try it just to say i have if I ever get a chance...

I do like a good Cuban Sandwich from time to time...

Although I do have to say, the "Ultimate Sandwich" is still a Carne Asada Burrito......

On a related note: I had a Cuban the other day made with pulled pork instead of loin. The owner of the shop and I had a lengthy discussion about why he made that decision. I loved it and am returning to the place tonight for a sandwich he told me I must have. I'll comment tonight on what it is and my thoughts on it.
