I like the navy blue shirts....I have been getting them since 2001, my favorites are both Navy Blue...the 2006 TRADITION (with gold helmet) and the 2008 Wake up the Echoes are my 2 favorites.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing a grey shirt.. I know it will never happen, but an old coach once relayed his theory to me that "grey is the color of champions" because most championship teams used to get grey shirts to wear.. I have more grey ND shirts than any other color lol.. but if I'm being realistic, a navy shirt wouldn't be bad

Funny you should say that. The only T-shirts I bought in my four years at ND were grey with a small, subtle interlocked ND logo in blue. Gym shorts I bought were navy blue with the same subtle ND logo in gold/yellow.

My mother bought an outfit for my infant son – a a navy blue hoody sweatshirt and sweat pants "ensamblé" with the the simple "ND" logos. When he was in high school I got him a grey, zip-up hoody (with pockets for his hands) with an understated "Notre Dame" on the front. Not cheap, especially since the purchase was part of a 10 hour drive to The Bend for a USC game.

He lost it within two weeks ...

Champion used to be the major provider of athletic gear to colleges "back in the day."

I think (as a few others said) that 2006 was one of the best. I still wear it, getting to my point. After that year, the shirt quality seems much worse. Thinner material, weird sizing doesn't fly on my 225lb Adonis physique. Well, maybe more Buddha than Adonis, but you get the idea.

No doubt this makes Notre Dame Stadium a less intimidating place to play for the opposition, which also no doubt has at least partially contributed to the team's mediocre home record over the past 15 seasons, since Coach Holtz resigned.

Nonsense.

Having watched ND since 1965, and many years where we were a perennial top 10 team with no unified color in the stands, I know that intimidation begins and ends with the team on the field.

This writer's opinion is a case of the green tail wagging the dog.

Damn straight! A unified color scheme in the stands, funky uniforms, pounding music on the PA system and a large video display may add to the pageantry and festival atmosphere, but if the players on the field and coaches on the sideline don't do their jobs, it won't mean jack.

Flip the coin. Empty the stadium, unplug the PA and Jumbotron, dress the players in tutus and 1950's era Keds. If the players execute the well-schemed plays called by the coaching staff and beat the snot out of the opponent, the intimidation will be there.

I'm hearing an announcement of something regarding the shirt will happen sometime this afternoon. This is per my inside sources. I can't share what I've heard, but when its made public, I'll return to say I told you so.

You're more right than you know. It's sad because the brave group of fans that go to the away games year after year wear more gear and cheer louder than the fans that show up to the home games not wearing a spec of clothing to support the team.

At the USC game last year I had the privilege of sitting next to an IU fan, who boo'ed both teams and was vocal about everyone needing to sit down. There needs to be a "true fan" test or something. I have no idea why she was there at all.

White,Blue,Green... I'll wear them all i really love the project .i have bought these shirts for 5 yrs now.. I use them as cut offs to do yardwork in after a yr... Nothing beats a closet full of ND shirts...

I really wish we only used two colors for shirts in general so we can get a sea of green/blue..

Can we get a sportbook on the # of minutes before NDN derides it as the worst shirt ever?

The 2012 version of "The Shirt" -- to be unveiled Friday -- will feature the NDFB125 logo below the back collar.

That was taken from the press release regarding the shirt.

i am going to buy it, no matter how much I like it, or how much I dont like it. of course, I wish it is something I do like, but if The Shirt is hideous, im still gonna pick one up.
even if it was the same color every year, and only the date changed, i'd still get one.

I always order mine as soon as they send out the notice. There have been a few I don't care for, but I'll always buy one just because it's "The Shirt" and what it represents.
