Soooo why is Town even a top 100 recruit at this point? And can we get a time machine/do-over on not offering Lock when he camped?

I'm with you in that I think we would've at least had a chance at Lock. Also, Town should be falling A LOT.

Who in the hell is Ben Hicks? Committed to Houston and only has them and Southern Miss as his offers?

Saw him for the first time but I thought he looked really good last night. Wouldn't surprise me if he received a lot more interest in the future.

Also, another note on Town. I read yesterday that one of the knocks on him has been arm strength. Noticeable difference from a lot of the other Elite 11. So he's a big strong immobile prospect that struggles with arm strength and accuracy. Interesting.

Right on queue...

I agree with you though that he's nowhere near that level.

are they ranking just the day or is it compiled as the days go by? seems like there is some major moving every time we see one of these.

They start the rankings on Day 1 and as the week progresses they update the rankings. So todays ranking is compilation of the entire week.

1v1 OL vs DL is almost pointless. The DL have such an advantage, they have no gap responsibilities, no threat of a double team or being cut, don't have to worry about a RB chipping them, they don't have to worry about the run or screen pass, they don't need to contain the QB. Its a DL "technique" drill. The only thing in a game situation its good for is if its 3rd and 20 with an empty backfield and Tommy Rees at QB.

It's semi useful to look at technique but having took part in these drills personally, OL aren't comfortable working in a 1 on 1 drill because the OL works as a team (not saying tackles aren't left out on an island at times). I would say the DL "wins" 3 out of 4 reps because OL technique usually fly's out the window. My OL coach hated 1v1 pass pro so he added run blocking into the mix and needless to say the DL were no longer "teeing off" on the OL.

With that being said, it makes Hoge's reps that much more impressive. 1v1 pass blocking is probably the toughest thing in football.

@BruceFeldmanCFB: I get it's only summer 7 on 7 but Ricky Town leading his team to @TheOpening2014 finals vs Blake Barnett's squad is kinda interesting. #bama

Does anybody know where you can buy the gear from the opening? Or is it not out yet?

This is why I don't get too excited about these things. You never know what's going on. Town could have been feeling a little ill early in camp.

Also, as much as many of y'all may not care for the guy, I love the energy displayed/heard by Richard Sherman on the link for the 1 on 1's

Seriously...Who is this Trent Irwin kid and where is he going? He was eating them up in the 1 on 1's...Sweet baby Jesus!

Arizona State and Stanford are his top choices. USC is showing strong interest and he thinks that they will offer him soon. His QB in HS is Brady White, currently commited with ASU.

DL vs OL (pads)

Fred Uly-Perry looks very good. Beckner is a beast!

He's really, really good. Only chance we would've had at him is if we had been able to snag Brady White. Stanford has everything he's looking for independent of White.

He went might be one of the best route runners i've seen since following recruiting

What stands out about our commits is that they are not necessarily the stars of the event, but they are so fundamentally sound.

I'd say Sanders starred at the event. He was called the 2nd best slot WR behind only Kirk. And was considered one of the top 10 ATH's.

Loy recently posted that he was joking with Barton Simmons all week about the next rankings coming out. Apparently they are taking notice of the irish commits. The only problem is our 4 commits that were there don't have much of a gap between 247's ranking and the composite. So 247 increasing their rankings won't do much in the grand scheme of things. Good news is ESPN had a lot of coverage and Scout seems to of as well. However, I wouldn't expect Rivals to do much with it.

Crawford could see a little bump from 247 and Sander should see a pretty decent bump. I doubt Hoge and Tillery do. Sanders big jump will come from the composite where I bet everybody has to re-rank him.

Heard from an OSU buddy (who was trying to justify his substandard performance) that Cornell left the Opening halfway through due to family stuff. Is this true?

Should be mentioned that Hoge also made honorable mention for OL. Was top 10 for OL there and top 5 for interior OL.
