The "Old Days"....

Looking forward to the arrival of lil NDinLA.

Me too brother, me too. Wifey is 6 months deep, but has only gained 7 pounds as of last Thursday. Nurse was a little concerned but my wife doesn't eat when she is full (unlike me, when I eat whatever you throw on my plate and more - no discipline!), still works out on the eliptical 3-4 days a week, and hasn't had any cravings. So now she's all worried (for nothing - she's fine; thanks doc!), and trying to eat like a pig LOL, but other than that it's all good.

As for the 'new site' - some of the newbies are excellent and add a whole lot to the site, and others maybe not so much. Guys like jasonh and Ironman and TerryTate who help out huge with recruiting, were all newbies at one point but are now vital to the site. Even OldManMike was a newbie, if someone being 90 years old can really be a newbie (just kidding my man!), and his insight is invaluable. So what we try and do is welcome them and hope they become the next SoCalDomer, or be like guys who add a lot of color to the site like johnnykills and dshans, among many, many others.

But as was said, the old guard had their own rapport and inside jokes and things like that that many of the 'newer' members have with each other, and HCTI was part of that, so it's understandable what he's saying.

When i joined the board felt like a bar full of regulars. It too a while to make a name for yourself but it felt like a small lil community. Lots of new members now, a lot are young too which is cool.

It does feel like some members seem to run together in my head. There are a few gem guys and the "classics" but I get lost myself sometimes

My thoughts:

Not even sure how I joined the board or even found it. Found it a wealth of recruiting information I did not know even existed. GG had great insight. Recruiting was something to make the time pass between the off season. It also was a fun place to joke around. After GG passed, the site went downhill. Unfortunately, only a couple of mods added anything to the site and faded away. Socal did a great job.A dam near civil war broke out between posters with no mods. A few of us fought to keep everything in tact and eventually become mods. We have began to fade and other have picked up the slack. Thanks to TT, Ironman, GBDomer, and many others. Thanks. The site is better than when a found it, but The Touchdown Jesus Club lacks. But with some many recruiting sites nowadays rarely does anyone have any inside info though. Do I miss any of the classic poster. Nope. I can understand why and how mods fade away. My 2 cents.

I guess I am going to have to come up with some good material to right. So I will be on one of those list. I remember I first joined this site because when I was in Iraq this was the only site I could get on that allowed me to play games on my down time. How far I have come, considering I was always nervous to post but now it doesn't matter to me.

This thread made me look back at some old PMs... amazing how much stuff went wrong/down from about Jan. to April of '08 with so few active mods and only one part time Admin left to do anything... and of course that all lead up to Jimmy's passing...
