Not sure if there's a thread like this out there already. Thought it would be a good repository for funny stories, advice for first timers, or just cool shit your kids did. For the purposes of this thread, Quinntastic is allowed to contribute.

So, I've got 3 kids. My oldest, Olivia, just started Kindergarten a few days ago. She's usually kinda shy, but I guess she's been doing well adjusting to the change. My 2nd child, Landon, is Autistic and Olivia has come to understand that he "has a different brain" than herself and my youngest boy. She doesn't have a close relationship with Landon like most siblings would have, but she understands he needs to be left alone at times and knows how to help when he's having sensory issues.

So, on her 3rd day of Kindergarten today we got a text from Olivia's teacher. I guess there's another Autistic child in her class. The teacher said my daughter has been awesome with this little girl in helping calm her down and being friendly. Just really cool to get a message like that, especially since we didn't know how she would take to Kindergarten having not been through the Preschool experience, and she doesn't really bond quite as well with Landon like she does my youngest. We know there's a good chance she'll have to be the one to help take care of Landon when we're gone someday, so that gives me some hope she'll do well.

Also, here's a picture of my youngest, Philip...future ND TE (Projected to be 6'6" or more, he's already got good hands) and probably will be the subject of a University mischief investigation at some point. To say he's trouble is an understatement. It's the hair.

anyway,... I've shared this pic before, it's one of my favs... here is the oldest, years ago, showing her Irish pride. She often shares stories of cfb banter with school mates and, 'idiot SC fans'...

Story: Her fifth grade teacher had groups... each group was named after a college mascot. My Gabby got put in, "The Trojans" and she flat out refused to be in that group... she settled for "The Bruins." There was no Irish (All Pac 12 teams). Her Sixth grade teacher was a huge ND fan and had ND stuff all over his class... she got along with him much better and had a better year all around. She's in 8th grade now as of last week.

My oldest son is 7 years old, but lives with his mother. I see him every other weekend.

Youngest son is 2 years old. I love with him, his mother (my fiancé) and my step daughter who is 9.

I really enjoyed your story. You have a great young lady there and you should be very proud of her.

I'll add another story. Went on vacation last month. My wife had to stay back and work a few extra days, so she kept my oldest son while I went ahead to the family cottage with daughter and "Tiny Trouble," Philip the red head. Before I could leave town the Mrs. insisted I replace a tail light on the van, which is smart since this was a holiday weekend and I'd probably get pulled over.

So, I decide to take the two kids into Auto Zone to get the light. I'm in the aisle, scanning the book for the right part I need. Tiny Trouble just lies down in the middle of the aisle, refusing to move. I'm not far from the register, so I think "Whatever, as long as you're not doing anything, you can sit there till I check out. I don't feel like carrying you the entire time." I keep my eye on him as I walk up to the register, his red mop not leaving my gaze. Still watching him I put the light on the counter and say to the cashier "Yeah, he's evil, must be the hair." I turn to look at the cashier...6'4" dude, 2 1/2 bills and ripped, flaming red beard and a scowl on his face. Open mouth, insert foot.

The cashier just stands there, staring me down for a second. Then he chuckles and says "Yeah, I used to tell my old man all the time how much trouble I REALLY could have been growing up." I laugh, collect Tiny Trouble, and get out of there. I guess that's telling a funny one on me, but it wouldn't have happened if the kids weren't there.

Father of 2! Daughter named Aubrey age 7 and son named Austin age 1.

Funny story is that when my son was born we still had the IE NCAA dynasty going and I can remember all the guys from the board (Nick, Joel, Kyle and Dre) trying to tell me to talk my wife into bringing my PS3 to the hospital while we wait for my son to arrive! Trust me that question never came out of my mouth or I would be living in my garage!

I am trying to teach my son how to boo for the upcoming season, especially since all my in laws are condom fans. I was able to do it when my daughter was young so I think I will have success with the boy!

Also it's good to hear Nick that your daughter has a such a good heart! Kids are one of the last pure souls on this earth.

I have one kid- a son who will turn 3 in less than a month now. I get to see him on weekends only as he currently lives with his mom. He's the bee's knees. I've been working on his affinity towards ND football since birth via subliminal messaging.

Alright, got another one here, this time with an accompanying video. So, the youngest just turned two about a month ago. Tiny Trouble is at that age where he's starting to say a lot of words, but not all of them are perfectly articulated.

In any case, back in May we were trying to get him talk to us one night, and he said something we had never heard him say before...

Great thread idea. My daughter Nora is already 14 months, and feel like she was born yesterday. The time really does fly. She just started walking. Here's some team spirit photos during her first few months:

These stories are great. My five have been out of the house for quite a while, but we have eight grandkids so I can still relate to these stories. If you think you're kids are fun, just wait until you have grandkids. It's twice as fun, because while you still care and worry about them, you don't have to worry about school, feeding them, scheduling doctor visits, fighting with them to go to bed on time, etc.!

I am really enjoying your stories. Reading about your young kids is awesome. I am at that transition stage where it is really bizarre for me. I have a son who is a Jr in college and a daughter that is a senior in HS. It is really weird as we begin going through this season of "lasts". Hard to believe that in less than a year we will be empty nesters.

Enjoy every single moment of your kids being young and try to spend the maximum amount of time with them. When you get to the stage I am you wish you would have skipped a couple rounds of golf or not taken so many business trips.

The kid isn't even two years old yet and she's been to Disney World three times. Next trip is in January then another next August.
