]So the team probably goes 11-1 in the regular season with a decent quarterback in 2017. Does Book beat Wimbush outright to begin the 2018 season? [/B]Does Amon-Ra go to ND instead of SC or other big time recruits choose ND?
Furthermore, if ND somehow slips into the playoffs that year, does Elko stay and hold out for a better gig than Aggie DC?
I feel like if Kizer came back, we may have seen Wimbush transfer in '17 rather than '18, don't you think? At least it is a possibility.
I don't think Book would have beat Wimbush outright if that wasn't the case. It seemed like Wimbush was Kizer's incumbent all along due to his stock value alone, IMO. I could see 2018 play out exactly how it did; Wimbush gets the nod to start the season, struggles out of the gate and Book eventually gets his shot. I think BK really wanted BW to succeed but ultimately had to do what was best for the offense and the team. BW was a high character guy, I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision for BK to sit him.
As far as Elko is concerned, I'm not sure that would have been the case either. He made it pretty clear that he only cares about the money. If there was no HC gig available that suited him, he would have followed the money for any "lateral" move that was out there.
I'm still a bit bitter about that and hope we get a chance to whoop on him at some point while he's still in College Station, but don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic how it turned out with Lea.
