(Not-so) controversial thought for the day: A Notre Dame QB will be on that list in 2012.

In my humble opinion: I think it's somewhat foolish to put Denard on this list...

I know, I know he put up "video game numbers last season", but that was in a totally different offense with a totally different coach.

If he is forced into more of a "pure QB" role, rather than relying on his legs... Michigan's Offense could be in trouble

Funny I recall a lot of people making similar comments here last year, right up to kickoff.

Preseason lists are based upon last season.

But considering how foolish he made Diaco and the Irish D last year, it would be foolish to omit him until they SHOW they can stop him.

I agree, in part...

I didn't mean for it to come across as disrespectful...

1. Last year was the d's first year in Diaco's scheme, growing pains and a learning curve were to be expected.

2. Hoke runs a different style offense. Denard is a tremendous athlete, but as a "pure passer" I just don't see it. Who knows how Hoke will use Denard..

3. I know that it's based off of last year, but in this scenario I think that it doesn't (or shouldn't, rather) apply... Too many changes in Michigan

just my 2 cents

Where's Manti?! :)
Agree-been saying all along-not out of the question if this team turns it out. Character/talent/leader/performance/Notre Dame name/let him push a few in the end zone. The country may be ready for a defensive guy.

If Crist starts hot, and ND win their first 4 games... he will pop up on that list... he won't be top five, but he will be someone to look at

I hate how the Heisman is more of an "MVP" award these days, and many undeserving players (mostly system QBs) get it.

Let's swap him out with one Dayne Crist or Michael Floyd

No, no, no.

Wide receivers rarely get invited to the Heisman ceremony. Here's some examples:

2007, Michael Crabtree: 1962 yards, 22 TDs - No invite
2008, Dez Bryant: 1480 yards, 19 TDs; 2 punt return TDs - No invite
2009, Golden Tate: 1496 yards, 15 TDs; 2 rushing TDs; punt return TD - No invite
2010, Justin Blackmon: 1782 yards, 20 TDs - No invite

None of these players were even invited to the Heisman ceremony.

Michael Floyd's numbers will not touch any of the players listed. Last year we were all predicting monster numbers (except me) and he barely scraped 1,000 yards. And now we have an uncertain QB battle and expect leaps in production from Riddick, Eifert, and Jones. How is he gonna put up Heisman numbers to even be considered?

And Dayne Crist? He might not even start.

We have no Heisman Trophy candidates. Case closed.

My prediction is Landry Jones. Monster numbers, winning his conference and leading the Sooners to the national title (Yeah, I said it) = Heisman.

No, he isn't. Kelly said today that the QB race is still "too close to call".

He also said prior to that how Crist has been taking the majority of the first team reps. I'm not saying I don't believe Kelly, but I think he definitely feels more comfortable with Dayne running the offense, mainly because Crist is better with the up tempo which Kelly is more accustomed to. I will be fine with whoever starts because I like them both, but I'd be willing to bet all I have(which isn't much, sorry haha) that Crist is our starter.

LOL Dayne Crist for the Heisman? He has done nothing close to be even considered.

Riddick is right, he may not even start week 1 (probably will) but who knows how long that will last, lets see if he can play a season, and put up numbers of a good QB, let alone a Heisman QB.

I think Riddick has the athleticism/potential to put up heisman numbers as a Percy Harvin type player if he gets the touches

You scoff at the idea that Crist could be considered for the Heisman, but then offer Riddick? Dayne's numbers were much closer to Heisman levels in 2010 than Theo's.

It's not like the Heisman trophy actually goes to the best player in the country...
