Wow I can't believe you guys are hating on this movie. I thought the move was pretty good, but the more I think about the film and its depth, the more I realize just how amazing this film really is. Just think a little bit about what the movie means and how it was beautifully put together.

Just saw it. Good, but not great. Not on the same level as TDK or BB. Some plot points were "convenient" and some of the writing was pretty sh*tty. Action was decent, though the fist fights were boring. To the point being discussed earlier, putting the Nolan trilogy over Star Wars and Lord of the Rings is generous at this point. Especially since the batman films have yet to hold their own over the years in the same way that the other trilogies have. But to say that they're closer to Transformers in quality is silly, and makes me question Rubber's taste.

It has better writing and acting than Transformers to be sure.

These movies aren't even on the same level as Raiders of the Lost Ark, let alone the Star Wars or LOTR trilogy.

Agreed. Transformers with better writing.

Transformers was literally the dumbest/cheesiest/most predictable set of movies ive ever seen. To put TDKR in the same breath as the transformers is just rediculous

If TDKR is anything like Transformers I won't waste my money.

disagree. BB was great. and TDK got me excited about film making in a way that nothing else had in a long time.

Spider Man 1 and Batman Begins are probably a toss up. The Dark Knight owns Sprider man 2 and Spider Man 3 was garbage. Seriously, if you disliked the movie or compare it to Transformers there's something wrong with you.

My only problem is the neutron bomb.if its blast radius was 6 miles, and batman's vehicle were traveling 300 mph on average starting at the edge of Gotham.... it would have destroyed a one mile thick slice of Gotham... when you think Batman's car starts in the middle of the city add on 3 miles... so it had to get over 9 miles in a minute.... averaging 540 mph. When you add in acceleration, it probably would have needed a 600 mph top speed. The thing was powered by a rotor, not a jet engine, the rotor would have broken at the speed of sound and shattered.

The rope already ran half way up the damn ledge... just take more with a freakin grapple.... 100s of men over decades couldn't figure that out???????

LOL

really I'm not hating the film... I'm just blown away that people would call it a masterpiece and honestly compare it to the Godfather... Transformers is not a close comparison as this film was MUCH better... but Transformers is a much closer choice than the Godfather... this was not a classic film in the slightest.

I would add Raiders of the Lost Ark is better than any of these films imo... yes, even Dark Knight, which is easily my favorite super hero movie ever. Raiders was the perfect action adventure film... absolute elite of that genre

Fair enough. Think BB and DK are better than Raiders......and stand the test of time just as well?

I never said that they were better than Raiders, just that they deserved a discussion. My biggest issue is your "like transformers but with better writing" bit. That's a HUGE compliment to Transformers. Transformers is a piece of sh*t. It has no substance, the character design is a mess, it is tonally pendulous (going from "Black Hawk Down" serious with marines dying left and right, to "American Pie" stupid, with robots humping things; and back all within the same two minute scene.) On top of it all, the action is terrible in all Transformer movies, where the audience often has no idea who is fighting, who is winning, or where anything is (you do get to see a lot of Michael Bay staples though: LENS FLARES, LENS FLARES, HOMOEROTIC MILITARY FETISHISM!!!!!) So it even fails as a dumb action movie.

There are many reasons that I could write that TDK is a masterpiece, but I feel that I would just be wasting my time and yours, as there are many amazing people on the internet that have already talked about why that movie is so well done on so many levels. DKR didn't live up to the greatness of TDK to me, but that's a high bar. At worst, it provided a well made ending to a great trilogy that changed the way that superhero movies are thought of.

Rope was tied below the ledge jump... and I assume the guards would stop you if you had a grapple... if there was one in the prison which there probably wasn't

And yet the Transformers movies were BIG budget, blockbuster films with BIG explosions and cgi galore that was about a comic book/cartoon/toy franchise that made hundreds of millions of dollars just like the DK series.

I said that the DK series was better written and acted. It also had a better director and frankly was done much better. But they are the same genre and I simply disagree about them being genius and masterpieces. In fact, I fully expect someone else to do another Batman film in a few years with the next Michael Keaton, George Clooney, Ice Man or Christian Bale.

Like I said earlier, fair enough.

Well said, I thought it was a great way to end the trilogy

Did anyone even see guards in that prison?? Even if they were there... they won't let you have a grapple but they give you rope and let you climb out???

Honestly the prison side story was just bad all together imo...

Transformers is f*cking stupid. TDKR was 1000000000000x better than any of those pieces of sh*t.

I didn't care for any of that prison subplot. I thought it was a waste of time. The second act was just plain bad, in my opinion.

Bane manages to completely shut off Gotham from the outside world for five whole months?? Ummm, what? That is just literally unbelievable. Jumping-Shark-level unbelievable. Where is the food coming from? WHERE IS THE ARMY??! Where is the air power and drones that could take out those trucks at a mere whim

Nolan said, when he began working on Batman Begins, that this universe will be real: "the world of Batman is that of grounded reality. [It] will be a recognizable, contemporary reality..." Bane single-handidly taking of psuedo-NYC for five months = horribly unrealistic. When the Joker was going on his hellish tirade, you could believe it. In Batman Begins, you could believe it! I know I know...it's a comic book movie, but I just didn't really like it.

Do you understand the concept of a hostage situation? If you move on the bomb... Gotham Blows. If you don't send food... it blows. What the hell would the gov. do? move on a city of 10 million and let it blow? No sane person is going to move on the city.

and the point of the prison is hope. If you have no shot at escape you have no hope. That's why they let you try to escape... It makes living there less tolerable. Did you just wake up crabby and decide to hate on the movie? Indiana Jones had a lot of screwy stuff too if you stop to think about it.

Wasn't Talia's objective to destroy the city? Why not just set it off then? Why wait five months?

If the Dark Knight was a 10, I thought TDKR was an 8 the first time I saw it. I saw it a second time and it became like an 8.8. I'm a sucker for dialogue, metaphors, and sound so that may be why I am rating it higher than most of you seem to.

Sure there were some writing and plot flaws but considering how ridiculously high the expectations for this movie were it turned out to be pretty damn good. I think the "twists" were predictable but I am an avid comic book fan so I was already thinking certain characters would be in the movie.

To echo some other thoughts...to compare this to Transformers is ridiculous. The acting/cast alone make that comparison a joke.

Ok, maybe the Terminator series?

BTW-Isn't 'Masterpiece' and 'Genius' terms for like Citizen Kane and the Godfthers? Schindlers List, ect. These are fine action films to be sure, but come on guys.

She wanted Bruce Wayne to suffer, so she drew it out to cause as much suffering to the city/Bruce as possible. It was as much trying to destroy the city as destroy Bruce's spirit.

Terminator 2 is my favorite movie. Not saying it's the best movie, just that I find it really entertaining. TDK is definitely a masterpiece though. Rise is not but pretty damn good IMO

This. Which is why he had a TV stream going to his prison cell

So we have posters who believe that if a terrorist has a nuke he can take a whole city hostage with it for six months and the gov/ military would just sit and watch the entire time and do nothing??? That's totally reasonable?

Sure.

Anyway, it was a good movie,... I just didn't think it was close to the hype it's getting. Also, unlike the first two it had a number of " yeah right"s

How would the gov. respond? Take out Bane? They didn't know Tatalia had the trigger, so boom goes the city. I don't think the gov. has a playbook for a hostage situation in which NYC is the hostage.
