I told you guys either way I'd clear things up on NSD.
1. From what I had been told by people that I know, and trust, Brian Poole was going to be Irish. 2 1/2-3 weeks, I was informed he was going to be flipping on signing day to minimize the backlash of a decommitment, and signing his LOI its a done deal. Now if you have followed the twitter/facebook page, you would know that I don't put anything out there that is speculation. So, I apologize that it didn't happen and that I am not backing down from the comments. When the comment was made the word was that Poole was in the bag, Neal was on the ropes, and chances were good with Standifer.
2. Hence the reason I didn't give a name of a player because out of respect for the Poole family. I have heard that the possibility of Mr. Howard going to the u, was a factor in Pooles decision. Whether that is true, you would have to ask Mr. Poole himself.
3. If you guys took it the wrong way that's up to you. At the time it was what was going on, and if it didnt have substance, and more than a few people in the know saying it, I wouldn't have made the comment.
4. I did tell GB/Beau/few others of this well in advance of NSD so they can vouch that this is the truth. You can disagree with me all you want but I disagree with the comments made earlier in the thread that was closed. This post isnt made to be in defense of that thread, nor do I want it to turn into a thread that is closed.
5. We got a very good class today, and there isn't a thing Kelly and the staff could have done to change it. It's not on them when they reach out to a player and he doesn't respond to their communication. It's not their fault they out recruited usc/ucla/cal/oregon/miami for a player, only to have him choose Houston. The same style worked last year, and didnt this year. So be it. I am sure they will learn and make positive adjustments next year.
6. Standifer still puzzles me. You can crack on admissions all you want, but ND admissions is smart enough to tell a kid the exact online Spanish class he would need to take to get into ND. I bet you if Nelson needed the same class he would have gotten in. So, that leaves you thinking that IF the poole/neal situations are false then why blow a chance to sign Standifer at the minimum?
