Or unamicably (I know that isn’t a word bc the red line says so) part ways with Ash by dropping his ass off at Torch Lounge and letting him figure it out from there.

I accept these terms also

He really is not slow. He is one of the fastest players on the team. Like Love speed fast. Christian Gray was a 10.6 100 meter guy in high school. It just shows you there is track speed and then football speed.
Well unfortunately for us we are “allegedly” playing football.

Freeman: In terms of in game stuff, running the clock down when your defense has struggled and there is still 4 - 5 minutes left was stupid. A&M had 3 timeouts. Literally only taking time from ourselves. He managed it for the 2024 defense, not the 2025 defense. A comment/question, are none of the defensive coaches in the booth? Not one? If so this staff is way to inexperienced for that to be the case, unless we have Saban at analyst that I don’t know of. Off field, a lot of the defensive issues he ultimately answers for, to leave it at that.

Offense: They were good! OL was I’ll say the word might be serviceable? There are some nitpicks or plays you could address and certainly not a finished product, but overall, that is a good offense.

DL: Pash rush again not existent. It will get easier opponent OL wise but it’s not good enough basically everyone. Bryce Young is a massive disappointment in two games. Interior was fine I guess against the run. 1H were way too worried about Reeds legs.

LB: Sneed off-season hype another disappointment. Bowen shouldn’t have been on the field for the TD. It’s not his “fault” but it’s 4th and long after a timeout, you don’t him out there compared to the alternative.

Secondary: Here we go. First, Devonta Smith was ruled out. I’m gonna say this loud, THE CONCEPT OF ZONE IS NOT WRONG, THEY JUST SUCK AT IT. The safeties, the corners, the linebackers they are all bad at zone coverage. So where I find issue with Ash is you can’t call it, particularly zone blitzes, if you’ve had how many weeks to realize they can’t play it.

So the next thing is the things everyone loves, Al Golden’s man to man and Mike Mickens. Well Karson Hobbs is awful and gets consistently toasted in man to man. Gray is also average at best. Reed just didn’t throw near Moore after the INT. They struck out on Stroman in the portal, he’s a box safety and you already had Talich. The safety play including Shuler is basically non-existent against the pass. They didn’t portal a CB3 so you have zero depth for a second straight year. Mike Mickens is 1/3 along with Ash and Freeman that have to answer for all of the above. And really something is to be said for the majority of it to fall on Mickens.

So someone is gonna have to answer what the play caller is supposed to do with the above?

The game adjustment seemed to be play man and have Tae be a deep safety. Hobbs still got beat. Gray still got beat. Reed probably missed at least 5 more big explosives. This setup should overall work against not tiny WRs (that are an awful matchup for us) + when Smith returns. I would ride with it as your standard defense.

A circle back to Freeman, does anyone else get the vibe on certain things he’s been coaching for 2026, not 2025? It’s just this odd feeling I’ve had with a variety of decisions.

this is freeman’s fourth season…. He’s significantly underachieved and had bad seasons 3 out of 4. I believe he needs to go, but I’d give him the season and force him to make a DC change immediately. If they salvage the season he comes back for 26 to see if he can actually lead the program.

Freeman is all talk but no accountability
You're saying that our HC, who led the team to a national championship last year should be fired? Get real man.

No coach is gonna come out to the press 20 minutes after the game ends and say that he's stripping call playing abilities from his coordinator.
I’m just reporting the news. It obviously came up. Freeman basically said nothing about the d is good enough right now

How many of his teams were picked preseason top 5? ND has wet the bed. Coaches have been the biggest reason these games have been close. Of course the two silly ints were also a reason we lost both games. This team has been hyped and then some. The DL is weak AF! This is not a strong team at the point of attack especially on D. I have no faith in them. I will say if they win out they will be in as long as not Miami and A&M get to 9 wins or more. I feel bad for many of the good players on offense.
ND by its nature needs to be good in the trenches. The defensive line isnt good. Its mid P5 level maybe

Whoever was in charge of hiring Ash, an obvious bad hire when it happened, should not have a say in the next defensive coordinator. I'm just hoping Cincy fires Golden.

I wonder what it would cost to get Price back next year. Probably not in the cards since he already had an achilles, but man I'm afraid of what that drop off is going to look like next year
I wonder what it would matter,…

This sucks.

It’s not a fun way to come off a magical season.

However, if you want a silver lining…..

Zero pressure rest of season.

Open up playbook and let Carr rip

Empty the bench and let the young guys get tons of meaningful reps

Seriously, there is zero difference between 10-2 and 6-6 other than optics in this new landscape.

Spend the rest of the year setting a foundation for next year.

Amicably part ways with Ash immediately after Stanford game, and immediately start zeroing in someone who isn’t a failure.

10-2 (as of now) has a very good shot at making the playoffs.

I know you're just the messenger. It's just hilarious that some in here expect him to say that, but I'm also not surprised.

Freeman has seemed off and so has the team. I was shocked they came out so flat against Miami. There has not been the same fire as last year, even from Freeman. He seemed...too at peace with the loss after Miami. I don't know, bad year, bad defense.

I mentioned two weeks ago after losing to Miami that it seems like we’re gearing up for a title in 2026….

One of the 5 most brutal losses in my 40 years as a fan.

It's not even like Aggy played well. They mostly played like butt juice, too, but somehow we were worse. They committed 14 penalties. FOURTEEN. How many 3rd and longs did they convert??? Then the special teams nonsense at the end. Our total lack of pressure on their QB. Their guys running open almost all night. Our DBs dropping interceptions. It was just a comedy of errors.

I don't like either Denbrock or Ash. Antiquated schemes, some truly head-scratching play calls.

On the plus side, we have a QB. Carr was big time on that go-ahead drive. Unfortunately, the other two units spit the bit.
It was the best passing (although we dropped 3 easy picks) we have seen in ages.

It isn't quite the same; we didn't win the NC. At the very least, MF has whiffed badly on several coordinator hires.
We came back and made it a one score game dude lol

Yeah he didn't get Gerard Parker right, or Chris Ash, but what I will tell you, is that he shows that he's capable of making good hires (see Golden and hot take, Denbrock).

We’ve lost three straight top 25 games,…. Period. Rationalize that all you want, if you’re talking about touching grass you’re not serious, if your life is ending you’re too serious, I’ve never been able to understand a middle ground but damn. Win fucking games
And favourites in the last two... Freeman needs to find a way to make this better... With the play. Coaching and play calling I've watched... Be lucky to NOT have four-five losses...

Hilarious that this happened with Reed going 17 of 37. If you told us that would be his completion percentage before the game I’d think ND won by 17.
