So a few Qs.
  1. is the search function not working?
  2. how do you post a gif? I've tried a couple ways. Not like I'm the sharpest tool in the shed, but tried the old way, and like I've tried on other sites.

1. It shouldn't be?
2.Yeah you click "image" and then copy the link or upload. Make sure to uncheck "reference locally" if linking to it.

After your image is in the post, you can drag it around and even resize it.

Yes, just don't reference pictures you're attempting to upload. Should be no problem there.

The search thing I've had a couple people comment on and I have to say, it has worked splendid for me so I have no idea how it isn't working for others. Can you describe what is wrong with the search?

Last week I tried typing Brady Allen into the search bar, did an advanced search, tried searching for topics only. Got nothing. I had to manually go looking for his thread.

Hmm. I see. It appears that the search function is working, but damaged. I'll check it out.

Edit: I will likely have to pick a time to work on it as it is a "server intensive process" as labeled out in our admin control panel, but I should be able to rebuild the search index.

It's been hit or miss for me. Sometimes it will work, other times it brings up zilch. And that's searching on the exact same key word. I just tried it, and it's working again.

So I just clicked into the Cinci game thread. I can read it, but I can not post in it. At the bottom it says

So a heads up on the search index...I began the rebuilding of the tables at 3:30AM. It still has an estimated run time of around probably 6 hours or so. What it has to do is go through every post and table every single word from each of those posts. With over 2 million posts on our site, you can see how this might take some time.

When my computer went to sleep last night it paused and I had to start it back up this morning, but I certainly won't be on my computer non-stop for the next six hours so there may be another pause before I can finish it tonight hopefully.

If there are any slowdowns or delays during this time, I apologize as I didn't realize it would take so long. I probably interrupted this process when we first moved over without realizing it and that may be why the search function is somewhat selective. But so far, the site seems to be operating just fine for me so I hope it continues working well even during this long process.

Why not just prevent your computer from going to sleep while running the job?

When I started it, I was on my laptop at three in the morning. Didn't realize the length of time it would take. I also will try to do so, but a lot of times this old thing does not like to cooperate. I have screensavers turned off and I still get one randomly from time to time. lol

Should try running caffeinated -- super light-weight anti-sleep app. Can run it as needed or automatically have it run at boot.

Thanks BB. I figured it was indexing. Just didn't make sense that I used the same search two different times, and got different outputs (or lack there of) though. Maybe I'm mistaken on how I searched. Regardless, thanks, and well done.

on Windows? Open the Windows Mobility App and turn Presenting mode to "ON". In this setting your laptop wont sleep, turn on screensaver etc

I'm pretty happy with the work you guys have done, know that it's appreciated! I can't imagine what might have happened had the old hosting server crashed or the old owner went permanently MIA, we'd be left starting from scratch. Now we have invested posters in control that make sure problems are addressed and we actually have communication. Anything missing at this point like vBucks or team icons are superficial anyway, so if we get them back it's just the cherry on top.

If ya'll aren't already following them, make sure you're following https://twitter.com/IrishEnvyWeb for site updates and other info!
