Ohio State just inked a deal with JP Morgan Chase for $17m a year...second largest to...ND :)

Is the natty in the room with us now?
Been a fan of this team for a looong time - seen college football change in ways that I couldn’t have ever imagined - if the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame win a football game on January 25, 2027 in the first season that there has been a sponsorship patch on their uniforms, I will cry real tears. And those tears will have nothing to do with that stupid patch.

I will forget about this by the end of the day. Of course I will see it on Saturday's, but if we're winning I really won't care.

And neither will the championship.

I just take issue with the leap in logic that this is going to directly lead to a NC so it's ok. It's just greed plain and simple, and we should be annoyed with it. It doesn't mean the football team is dead to me, but the complete backbend to try and justify this money-grab by the multi-billion dollar institution that is Notre Dame is maddening to me.

I have to imagine the NIL support is tied to ND football performance and willingness for ND football to make some of its own money.

Just because everyone has billion dollar endowments doesn’t mean those are for football, and less so at ND. I sure like signing 5* trench players and don’t want it to stop.

It’s interesting that this is the thing that has so many fired up. I have been a proponent of athletes getting compensation for a long time, but I was very fearful of ND not stepping up and playing the NIL game to the extent that other institutions would. To my surprise, they have. With all the changes that have happened in college football over the last five years this sponsorship patch just seemed inevitable and it’s just kinda meh to me. Go win the Natty. Then spend the SOFI money to win another one. Use that money to keep the best fucking coach in college football in South Bend as long as possible.
