Do we know if there will be another Green Jersey game like the Ohio State game last year?

I hope not. They should be worn only for big games, and we don’t a game on this year’s schedule worthy in my book. Wearing them against Cal in 2022, which we played like shit, was silly and takes away from the luster. For obvious reasons, I never want to see the Ohio State uniform / all green again.

FSU could be a good time to bust them out, if the Noles are good. But have no idea about that team this year; could see them being 9-0 at that time, or something like 6-3. They lost a lot from last year's team, including Travis (arguably their most important player), and I could see them dropping games against Clemson, Miami, SMU or UNC before coming to South Bend.

agreed, dont water down the thrill of seeing the team run out of the tunnel in green jerseys by wearing them every year.

I think it was 2018 where the Green Jersey game was against the garbage FSU team of Willie Taggert. That was great even though the opponent sucked

Were those the Shamrock jerseys? I remember them having a somewhat different look to them.

Edit: Nevermind, the Shamrock jerseys that year were for the game in NY against Syracuse. My bad.

Oh yeah the Shamrock jerseys that year were the ugly Yankees/ND mashup. I remember everyone on ISD clowning on them and Matt Freeman defending them saying the players liked them. Sounded to me like the team had some awful taste lol

I was so embarrassed. One of the ugliest uniforms in the history of college football. Those pinstripe pants looked ridiculous, especially on the bigger guys.

I was a little frustrated and peeved that we wore three “specialty” uniforms / combos last year (Navy, Ohio State and Clemson). It’s beginning to be too much, and I fear will become the norm (at least while MF is coaching the team). They didn’t look bad, per se, they just don’t resemble Notre Dame.

Personally, I love the variety. It’s not like our uniform is like Penn State where they’ve literally had one iteration of their uniform forever. Ours has varied over the years.

The constant for us should be the helmet. Everything else can and should be switched up for big games and Shamrock games.

I'm all for ND never having another Yankee mash up or WWI inspired Army but if they can match these on every attempt, they can do it whenever they want. Let's not forget... ND invented the alt jersey game and employed it for years on end, multiple times. So embrace it.

Digger had the right idea during his late 70's / early 80's run with Tripuka/Woolridge/Jackson. Their Adidas had one blue, one yellow, one green stripe. Some day I'll get around to having a custom set of shell toes made like those.

Alternate jerseys are fun. I also think names should be on the jerseys permanently
They’re fun in a tacky, nouveau riche way (think Oregon), but that’s just me. They’re also tired and played out. Even Ohio State cranks them out it seems like every few games and it’s just cheap and cheesy. But, that’s just my opinion.

I’m going to laugh my ass off on the next big game when we come out in black jerseys and gold helmets/pants! How original! 🙄

Agree, no name equates to “team first” IMO.
So if you take a great “team” and take their jerseys off and sew letters on the back it somehow makes them less “team” first? Just my opinion but i feel like thats Silly antiquated thinking. Find me a team that played better or harder because they dont have a name on a uniform. Once the balls kicks of nobody thinking about that shit.

Disagree on the names. I'm fine if they're bowl games only. The uniform looks so much cleaner without names, and it's iconic. If you don't know the player's name by number, that's a you problem.

I think no nameplates looks amateurish, like the jerseys came from K-Mart. But that's just personal taste.

If we're making a decision on nameplates based on how many fans know the numbers, we should definitely get nameplates. The average fan can probably name a handful of players' jersey numbers. I'd bet even hardcore fans know less than half the roster--and that might be generous.

Players also change their numbers frequently.

In the NIL era, nameplates make more sense.

Also, a rarely talked about aspect to this is the fans from other teams watching Notre Dame. Going without nameplates is just making sure the rest of the country doesn't know our players as well as they could. I know it's annoying watching USC as a ND fan, ain't nobody got time to memorize numbers for other programs.

Was it decided whether beer/wine will be available in the stadium? Bailey's for the coffee for those November and playoff games?

You mean amateurs like the 27 time World Champion Yankees or 9 time Red Sox?

In the NIL era, I'm good with names on the jerseys. It makes sense.

I prefer jerseys without names but I am fine with it too.

I hope there was a contingency plan or escape clause. I've never been that big on sports brands, they're more or less all the same imo. At the end of the day they provide athletic apparel, it's all relatively the same stuff. That said, it's a bad look that we've tied our fortunes to a company that's crashing.

Not saying UA is going to make a come back, but a lot of apparel companies have been down and came back. Hell look at New Balance who would have ever seen them making the surge they have. I mean Champion is still around and a decade ago they were in worse shape than UA is today as far as sales. I will take a wait and see approach to see what happens over the next 18 months.
