Looks awesome. Great spot for a Jumbotron too opposite the tunnel.

If I am understanding the article, this is an expansion in facilities only and not seating capacity, correct?

Love this.

Remember the days you could drive right next to the stadium on Juniper? If this happens you would have no idea a street was ever there.

yeah although from that picture it appears there would be boxes added to the side opposite the press box that could house a couple thousand of the people who want to sit all game.

It looks rad.

But my trepidation stems from completely losing the feel of the old stadium. I'm all in favor of updating the stadium, but not at the expense of its character.

Adding a jumbotron could still keep the character, if tastefully done. Adding fieldturf could still keep the character, if tastefully done. Adding seats could still keep the character, if tastefully done. Adding a second press box/luxury box could still keep the character, if tastefully done. Renovating the locker room could still keep the character, if tastefully done.

I'm just skeptical that this could turn the stadium into one of the new baseball stadium fads with lots of activities and such. Those can enhance the feel of NEW baseball stadiums that don't have any tradition. I'm worried that adding those types of features would take away from the inherent "rustic" feel of Notre Dame Stadium.

It's a metaphysical quandary. At won't point do changes to Notre Dame Stadium no longer make it "Notre Dame Stadium" and spawn a completely new entity?

As BleedBlueGold just told me -- get the bluehairs in the suites and get the people that want to make some noise down on the field.

finally! move the sweater crowd into suites (which will help keep noise in) maybe add a few seats while getting back the "all brick" feel of the old stadium. LOVE IT

As long as they keep the "Play Like A Champion Today" sign and the striped endzones then I'm all for it

Umm, the cathedral isn't in the rendering...

It looks amazing though. A+ stuff.

Someone on NDNaiton suggested that the guy who created that other rendition that went around last year should sue ND because it is similar to the drawing released today. Unfortunately the guy says he doesn't have money for a lawsuit.

Unbelievable.

What is similar? That there are luxury boxes? How else would you render them to match the architectural theme of the campus?
