Respectfully, I kind of hate that. It's divisive and unnecessary.

"Best player" might apply to certain select individuals, like a Kyle Hamilton, Jaylon Smith, Michael Mayer etc, but after the first 5-10 guys on any given year, you're likely looking at a lot of grey area. Best players can rotate week to week. Drue Tranquil was the best player on the field when we played a triple option team (he's a hulluva player, but he wasn't the best player on the team).
Did you mean Drew White? Cause Drue Tranquill was a stud in pass coverage and may actually have been our best player on the 2018 team (obviously J Love, Coney, Tillery, Dex, etc all were great too)

I was referencing his unbelievable game against GT in 2015 before he got hurt, maybe that one was too "out there" haha but Drew White would be another good example, sure.

Why can’t we? Safety seems the only concerning position
It's a timeless classic repeated every year. Spring ball is where everyone is an All American, after seeing a couple of clips fans hopes are raised several notches and a natty is right around the corner.

Gotcha, funny how many LBs we’ve had make their breakthrough defending against the triple option (Martini another that comes to mind)

You might not but many probably do. There's also site traffic revenue. It's an odds thing. More eyes on your product is never a negative.
But when you get there and it’s the same old swag, you don’t buy anything.

Ridiculous to expect a higher finish or ridiculous to expect a higher floor?
To clarify - Ridiculous for a higher floor. They could make a run if everything lines up but I think after last season with this new OC its one step at a time.

When did you have an epiphany and change from being a top 25 to top 10?
I think they could be Top 10 with a little luck. The difference is I don't expect them to be elite like many of you do. There is a difference between being Top 10 and where Kelly had us in the Top 5 and much closer to a Natty (while still being far off).

We are not shopping down a different aisle and Freeman has yet to prove himself as a winning HC. So he needs to prove it.

Thats what I thought. I wonder if he wasn't a Powlus whether that would happen. What a sham. ND will always be ND....
FWIW two other guys who were probably never going to play also just took medicals, and their names aren’t Powlus.

If there’s a “sham” here it was in offering Ron Jr a scholarship to begin with. But at this point a medical scholly is best outcome for all involved.

Powlus was likely given the option to hit the portal or get a medical school to not count against the 85. Most schools wouldn't even offer the latter.

Kid wants that ND degree and I'm sure he'll stay a part of the program. Best of luck

Slow first day of practice when most of the talk is about our 5th string QB taking a medical, haha

Off-topic but anybody got a link to buy that hoodie Freeman was wearing today? I want one.

Probably not, he's got access to some private collection it seems. Every one that he wears would sell great but under armour must not need the sales.

I demand The Beat create addendums to all of their reports that spell out (with links) Coach Freeman's apparel, tops/bottoms/footwear.....make it so.

Really impressed with the interior DL size.

Mills at 296. Rubio at 302. AK at 312. Onye and Ford at 292.

Hope they can get Cross up just a tad. Even having him at 285 and primarily at 3T would be ideal.

Need to have big years from Onye and Ford. We should have enough depth inside where Mills can lineup at DE at times.

Here's hoping the light went goes on with Onye. Could it be a three headed monster at NG with him, Rubio and AK, or do they need to go portal hunting?

I'd be cautious adding weight to Cross.
His game is about speed and explosiveness. If he gets too heavy, his best traits are nullified. Plus, he'll never be ideal 3T size anyway.
