I see you're not a fan of sarcasm so since you want to argue numbers, here we go.

MLS tickets are cheaper and stadiums are generally bigger than NHL or NBA arenas. The NBA and NHL's tv ratings and revenue, which are much better indicators of popularity than attendance, dwarfs that of the MLS. Money talks.

My point with the MLS is that there are people who care about it, as crappy of a league as it is(It is like 7th best in the world, at best). I don't have a team so I don't have much of a dog in a fight for MLS vs NHL, I just can't stand when people say "Americans hate soccer" or "Soccer is for poors and Europeans" or something to that effect because it is the fastest growing sport in America. It isn't going anywhere either, so get used to it.

The English Premier League and the United States Men's National Team draw much higher TV ratings then any NHL games besides the Stanley Cup Finals.

If you haven't seen EPL, a Barcelona or a Real Madrid shirt, or a United States Jersey, you really haven't looked hard at all because they are all over the place.

OK.... Just throwing this out there. Most of you know I CAN'T STAND SOCCER, however, I recognize that many of you live by it. It get it....I appreciate it. Great job.

But this dude, Irishrecruiting (and to a lesser degree, Young Daniel, 23) has taken it to a whole new level.

Fellas... If you have to try and justify how awesome it is....is it truly awesome? Everyone has their tastes. Soccer isn't for everyone. Hockey isn't for everyone. Soccer may be growing in the US, but being a youth travel coach, I'll make the estimation that 60-80% of parents use sports as paid child care.... They don't give a damn what their kids are doing/playing/saying so long as they're out of their hair for 2 hours... So using the Soccer is the fastest growing sport argument really doesn't hold water. It's a cheap way to get them out of the house and they (regrettably) go out and do their own thing.

Just let it go... I've even stayed out of soccer threads for several months after getting railed last time I took the bait.

Nothing to see here.

I love baseball and soccer, and can't for the life of me figure out how anyone can waste their time with basketball... So I just leave BB threads alone rather than tell people how much it sucks... Because I know how much it gets to me when two of my passions, soccer and baseball are crapped on.... Which seems to be frequently...

I have no clue where I'm going with this ultimately.....

I like apricots.

Love national soccer (WC, EC, Olympics) and was planning on going to BZ next year with a few friends from Germany. Might be rethinking that. My friends in SP and RDJ say it's not that bad, but damn. Now even more PO'd that I canceled the trip to S Africa 3 years ago. My German buddies who went without me said it was the best time they've ever had,,, and I know they've had some fun LOL. Thinking this story will make a lot WC fans rethink their plans.

I wouldn't worry about it. That place will look like the airport in Total Recall everywhere. Brazil has too much riding on the WC to eff it up.

The airport is not what I'm worried about. It's traveling from game to game across the country. We'll probably go for the second half, skipping group play. Going with full German tix if I do, with a few one off tix for the US and Italy if travel/timing permits.
