Somewhat my order of preference:

Ribbon twirling

Cheerleading

What?!? Ribbon twirling ahead of cheerleading? What a dunderhead.

Seriously I will say this. I was a cheerleader for 3 years in college. Watching cheerleading was okay, but throwing a girl over your head and grabbing her by the crotch to have 3000 people applaud? Not much can beat that. And my partner was gorgeous!

This shiz is exactly what I'm talking about...

Scallions freaking suck... What kind of a moron likes scallions!!! Apricots baby...

I would like to know everyone's opinions on cats...

Are you a "Love me some cat" kinda guy? Or a "Frankly, I hate em" kind of guy.

Choose carefully.

We replaced our cat with a beaver, it shed hair like crazy, but my wife shaved it and things have been great ever since.

I love lamp.

In all seriousness, this is some messed up stuff. Whats wrong with soccer these days? I saw the video of the security guards getting the crap beaten out of them by a throng of fans after the guards took down a guy that ran on the field. Granted, the security overstepped their duty and assaulted the guy while on the ground, but...it's getting to be where you go to a fight and a soccer game breaks out.

I would gladly admit to liking shaved beavers in any interview and greatly admire the man or woman who had the brass to ask such a question. I have nothing to hide. :)

I'm a little worried at the ranking of hopscotch before hockey as well, among others.

Cheerleading comment made me laugh...had a buddy that went to Cinci that said the same thing. I didn't have enough extra curricular activities in college it seems.

The airport is not what I'm worried about. It's traveling from game to game across the country. We'll probably go for the second half, skipping group play. Going with full German tix if I do, with a few one off tix for the US and Italy if travel/timing permits.

I meant every quarter mile on every road heading to and from stadiums will have armored jeeps with a .50 cal, and plenty of patrolmen. That whole country will be on lockdown. Just make sure you wear a fanny pack and a Coca-Cola t-shirt.

That is crazy. What could possibly provoke a ref to stab a player?

On the topic of soccer, I used to hate it too. Didn't understand it and didn't really care. Then my kid started playing because her mom wanted her to play something and she was a natural (at age 3) at dribbling a soccer ball. She has been playing for 7 years and I can say I have a much greater appreciation for the sport than I ever did before. The amount of running my daughter has to do is crazy. She is a mid-fielder and has to run the entire field because she is both an offensive and defensive player. All other positions just play offense or defense, not both. And she plays goalie, too, which could actually be the most dangerous position on the field. I don't watch a ton of soccer but I do enjoy watching the US national teams now, both men and women (come on, who wouldn't enjoy watching Hope Solo or Alex Morgan?). I don't understand Lacrosse or Hockey but if my son wanted to play either sport, then I would get a rule book and learn to love them. And maybe some parents do use sports as childcare but I'm not one of them. I want my kids to be active so they aren't sitting around watching tv or playing video games constantly and I have never missed a single practice or game that my kids have played. I don't drop them off and leave and I even coached my daughter for 2 seasons when no other parents wanted to do it. She now plays competitive Select soccer with Lonestar Soccer Club here in TX and is working towards her goal of a soccer scholarship as a goalie so I have learned to love a sport I previously didn't understand and thought was boring (which I still do unless I am watching youth soccer or the US teams). It's not like football where I can watch any team play and be entertained.

I played goalie and mid-fielder myself. It's kind of an odd pairing if you ask me, but I always got placed in those positions as oppose to forward or full defense. You usually want your best conditioned players at mid-fielder in my opinion and the least at goalie, but I'm not a coach so who knows.

I played soccer up until high school. At that point football was available to me and I was looking for something different. I did enjoy playing goalie, even if you're left with periods of boredom. The best thing about playing goalie in the under 14 age group is that most players are poor shooters (At least at the non-competitive league level). I didn't play goalie like everyone else did either. The best thing to do at that age is not sit near the net and try and block the shot. Rather I would approach the ball carrier when they were engaged or just passing our defense. It forced them to either take a shot early, which usually caused it to go wide (Tougher to hit the net when the goalie is in your face, plus it creates a smaller window to make a goal when they're closer), or they'd freeze and you could easily take the ball away. I rarely got scored on with this strategy, most young kids try and take the shot rather than pass to one of their teammates on the other side for an easier goal. I was a pretty good goalie, but it helped that I had a pretty big boot too. When I did pickup the ball I could typically get the ball all the way down the field to our offense and over the midfielder's heads which lead to a lot of easy scores.

That's cool, man. I think my daughter is going to give up MF in the next year or 2. Her passion is goalie, though she has the build to be a great MF. She is 10 and is 4'10 and only weighs 70lbs. The girl is long and lean and can fly down the field but she really loves being goalie. She plays Select for a soccer club and the competition is really good. She doesn't stand back and let anyone shoot on her, either. She hasn't been scored on when she charges the player. She is a very good goalie so I am ok with her giving up MF. She has a much better shot at a scholarship at goalie. Her coach has already told her that the goalie job is her's if she wants it even though there are 3 other goalies on the team. My kid was placed on this team specifically because of her goalie skills while the other girls were placed based on other positions. When I asked her coach about there being 3 other goalies on the team, she said Ashlyn is the only one she knows will be her goalie for sure and if she wants to do it full-time, then the job is her's. If she wants to do it part-time, she will choose one of the other girls to play the other half. She is basically leaving it up to my daughter on playing half the game or the whole game at goalie but I got the impression she is hoping she picks full-time.
