Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has hired Jim Chaney as his offensive coordinator, sources close to the situation tell Dawgs247. Chaney was the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Panthers in 2015.

this RUMOR was started YESTERDAY NIGHT again..by some idiot on twitter stating he spoke w/ SOURCES that Sanford was becoming the OC for Georgia....this was shot down by the mod of a georgia site last night quickly but not before this idiot had people believing it and freaking out on twitter and ND sites....NO TRUTH

This dude has been coaching for over 30 years and developed Drew Brees at Purdue. He's coached on both the college and pro level with consistency that entire time. It's a solid hire, imo. Much safer than some hot coordinator that had one good season. You know that you are getting a guy that understands and knows how to implement spread philosophies.

He is also going to keep the running game/pro style going for Georgia which I am sure was something they def wanted for continuity purposes with recruits and current personnel

Just a joke I was throwing out there. I hadn't looked up his entire history. I just saw Pitt offensive coordinator. I'm at work and unable to do too much research while here.

Thank you though for enlightening me about his time at Purdue. That certainly helps me to understand his hiring more.

He can really do both. He has had equal success running pass first spreads (Purdue & wmu) and pro style. Great hire for a new coach with roster he didn't recruit. He should be able to immediately put an offense in place that best fits the players they currently have.

I watched the Army Navy game today. Good game. After the game while the Corps and Brigade sang their alma maters the camera closed in on Niumatalolo and he had his hand up to his forehead partially covering his face. When he took his hand down you could see the tears. It might have the tension releasing post game but Navy is unbeaten by Army for the last 14 years, 9 with Ken as Navy HC.

I don't think it was emotions from the game but rather his emotions surfacing from his Final Game with Navy. I expect he will be named HC at BYU after his interview Monday. "He's goin' home to mama."

He's won more games at Navy than any other HC. His .644 winning percentage is the highest since WWII when Navy players weren't being drafted. He could stay at USNA till he retires in another 10 or 15 years. But he LDS and I think he feels a calling.

While this is certainly true, I have to believe this didn't factor into Coach Ken's though process. If BYU didn't come calling, he'd be at the Naval Academy for years to come. He gets his fair share of annual suiters; this one is just singularly different for him.

Just saying, Strong is definitely feeling heat. Beating Baylor may have bought him another year. Hard not to feel the pulse of the fanbase leaving here in Dallas, they are not happy. Strong was not totally welcomed in the first place. Just saying, if they start slow with losses in out of conference next season, it will be another long year. Strong has a losing record and no bowls and trails TAMU, BU, TCU, and OK for in state recruits. And days prior to the new OC & OL hires (from Tulsa, and they initially turned the job down, necessitating the all out blitz to go to Tulsa to salvage the hire), the OC from TCU turned down $1M/year. The multi year deal may have been more as security if Strong is run out.

BYU was something I need to look into because of my faith and the opportunity to coach my two sons," Niumatalolo said. "But ultimately, I decided to stay at the Naval Academy because this is the best place for me and my family, and we are at peace with the decision.

Niumatalolo is the all-time winningest coach at Navy, with a 67-37 record in eight seasons. He took over for Paul Johnson, now coach at Georgia Tech, in December 2007 and signed a long-term extension with Navy in April 2011.

As far as coaches in the biz goes, Ken N is a pretty good guy.
